Multiplayer

When will we get it?

Me and my brother played Master of Orion II religiously, but not solo, we played either hotseat / or LAN. That was the selling point for us. To co-operate and/or face each other and, battle it out. WHY does a game like this come out in 2006 with no multi-player support. I am in dire need of a multi-player patch for this game. This is everything MOO3 should have been and more. Please Moders make a MP patch ASAP.

Thanks Eric-

It is good to see another fellow MOO2 player - my brother and I also played MOO2 on hotseat for years (and later for a year or two on LAN when I got a wireless router).

Unfortunately it appears that Stardock's customer base (at least the ones on this forum) do not have siblings or friends who enjoy these types of games...

Multiplayer has never been in any past Galactic Civilizations games. Prior to the GC2 beta as I recall, there was a poll on how many peoplw would preorder/buy a Multiplayer Expansion, or use it if it was included in the release version. The response was not strong enough to justify the cost of adding it, so GC2 remained single player as all its ancestors have been.

The mulitplayer crowd seems very vocal, but just does not have the numbers needed compared to those who would prefer the limited budget dollars go into other features. There are plans to possibly include multiplayer at a later time though, if funding and demand permit.

There were some threads last week with hotseat workarounds. I didn't bother trying it out but there are people posting that it can be done. Try a forum search or looking a few pages back for topics with HOTSEAT in the title.

Based on the FAQ... multiplayer will probably be added. And the demand is so large a sticky even exists about the topic.

Multiplayer will increase the size of this games community... which in turn will increase ' word of mouth ' about the game... which in turn will increase sales.

Once multiplayer is added most likely the official site will have to create a forum just for multiplayer.... because so so many will be using multiplayer... as seen with other games like CIV_4.

Loudness of the few doesn't equate to largeness in numbers.

I've seen a few people post over and over and over demanding the feature.

Civ IV has multiplayer, hard to find people to play on Gamespy.

Xan... check out the forums and all the topics which deal with multiplayer.

Here we go again... You won;t win preaching Multiplayer to these peopel I've tried./ Only thing that gets them rilled up is saying that GalCiv2 DOESN'T DESERVE multiplayer. Because it would suck as a multiplayer game. I suggest civ4, jsut rename your units to like spaceships and cities to planets, use your imagination for the rest :/

BTW Frogboy said it may be possible that there would be a multiplayer expension but he said that would depend on intrest alone and the preorders would be put up before the expension got worked on, if enough people preordered then the expension would get worked on. If not, peopel would get their money back, and that would be the end of it.

NTJedi, doesn't the stickied thread discuss why multiplayer would be a bad idea?

Anyway, I'd rather have extra content for the single-player mode than multiplayer. I'd personally never use it.
