Interface Suggestions for 1.1 (Constructive Comments)

OK, so i don't know if this has been posted or anything yet, but here goes.

So after playing the game for a week and a half, i find myself still having to check to make sure i "own" a particular planet. Maybe it's b/c i'm zoomed out of in or whatever. But i was thinking, an easy solution would be to display a planet's name in the color of that empire. I.E. terran planets in Blue, Thalan in light purple, etc... etc...

Also, i kinda miss the interface change when you're aligned with evil vs. good.

Also, when cycling thru planets in the planet screen (i.e. previous/next buttons), if you go to the shipyard and input a different ship to build, and click Back to Planet, the build order is ignored. You have to click Done. This is annoying b/c you loose your place in order of cycling thru your planets.

Oh and this one doesn't really belong here, but what the heck. What about another invasion tactic? Planetary bombardment by ships weapons and not mass drivers. Something that would give a boost to the player's advantage, cost some BCs, destroy improvements, but NOT lower the planet's quality rating. Just a thought.

You already get an advantage to invasion from space superiority and orbital bombardment

The attackers get an advantage for space superiority, but it doesn't scale. For example, you could have five fleets of 'T3h Ub3r Dr34ds' in orbit and you'd get the same bonus a pair of unescorted transports do.

I guess UI suggestions should reflect the repeditive actions that frustrate people, so here goes. I'd like to see the rename option available in every planet/ship screen: I name planets after what I use them for, and by zooming into the planet view to check what bonuses there are I have to go back to the map before renaming. I'd like the 'ships in orbit' area to be streamlined for launching multiple ships. I'd like the shipyard to gain a 'back to planet' tab when it's accessed through the starport screen (at the moment you hit 'done' and go back to the map).

More radically, I'd like to see what the 3d rendering of the UI can do. It'd be great for micromanagers if you could leave windows floating between turns, resize windows, have more display options (ie, show autopilot paths, set waypoints, etc). I play in 1280x960 - pretty standard these days - and I'd never turn the bottom-UI on if I could leave resized versions of the colony-status window and the domestic management window open all the time.

GHETTO EDIT - I'd like a way to use the domestic screen to control the 'focus economy' effect: in this way the colony screen and domestic screen can be used to micro your output to your hearts content.

just a suggestion : put in the loading screen something that shows how much from the game is loaded

are things taking THAT long for you to load?

Here's a suggestion (I have made this in another thread, and I believe a few others have as well):

On the Colonies screen, show the current production focus of each colony by highlighting or bolding that production number (e.g. if military production is the focus, the military production number would be highlighted or bolded). Also, from this same screen, allow us to manage what focus we want each colongy to have - military, social, research or nothing.

That would be a very handy change, probably fairly easy to implement, and would save the time of going to each colony individually all the time if we want to change their focus.

yes
yesterday -> 40 min to load and I don't know why

another suggestion: an option to find a colony - on the Colonies screen when you choose a colony and then press the "Find" button, the screen moves and show you this colony on the map ( like the ships)
and when you are in one colony and pressing "next" and moves to another colony, the map moves too and when you press "done" the map will be focused on the last colony that you have been

p.s: sorry for my bad English
