Disciples II: To Buy, or Not To Buy, That Is The Question

I need some opinions/reviews of Disciples II

Hello everyone!

I LOVE TG.Net, and saw DII and it looks pretty good. I own Age Of Mythology and other fantasy/stratedy games, and thought this would be a nice addition. I wanted to know if anyone knew if the version TG.Net is selling is the most recent, and if it supports online play via theirs, or some elses servers.

Thanks For Your Help!

I think it is the most recent. It contains all expansion packs.

It's okay. I don't know if I'd pay for it but if you have spare tokens it's one of the best games on totalgaming. I got it free with tg's previous pricing model.

Are the games on TG.net copy protection free? or is that just Galciv1 and 2? Been thinking about getting political machine but I would like to avoid any negative copyprotection.

There's no copy protection in the traditional sense on any of the games on TGN, no.  However, you must use Stardock Central to install/uninstall/update games from the network. You can also archive TGN games using Stardock Central to disc if you like.

Disciples2 is well worth it--I had it already before I got it free from the TGN switchover

Hey thanks alot Yarlen. I see myself getting some future titles from TG.net then. I was worried that since alot of the games were not published by stardock that they might have Starforce, Securom7 or some other deritive of those schemes. I despise Starforce on principle of what it actually does under the hood and Securom7 is a buggy p.o.s that seems to only work on the hardware they specify (hddvd and blueray are only going to make this issue worse). I haven't had a safedisc issue before but that doesn't mean safedisc is anygood either. Frankly I just hate the whole drm movement anyhow...seems communist pinko to me. I understand it can have it's place at times but mostly its just anti consumer.

Kryo,

Does Disciples II go online? Also, does the TGN one contain the expansion packs?

Sorry if I am being annoying;)

PS: I own Uplink Hacker Elite, BSHacker, and Celtic Kings, all of which were TGN Games. I got them with the previous pricing model, which, in my opinion was much better!!!!! I also got The Political Machine, but on disk not TGN.

Thanks for all your help!!

Disciples 2 is a turn based game, if you have lots time on your hands you can play this online with multiplayer.. I just can't afford sitting after my moves and waiting for other's to make their moves... I'll be petrified. Just my own thought...

The version of Disciples II we have on TGN contains both expansion packs and all the patches, yes.   It's the same as if you went to the store and bought it on disc, then patched it - except there's no DRM.

Good. I play a lot of Real-Time Stratedgy games, AOE and Age of Mythology, so the turn based would be a nice change....
