Influencer starbases question

Hi,

I have a question about Influencer Starbases, those of the 2nd type, the one that uses modules from the Influence Branch of the tech tree. I cannot make one. The first module - Galactic Mall - requires the "Advanced Trade" tech which I have. I traded it from another civilization. I have also researched Majesty, pretty far in the Diplomacy branch. Now, I have an empty shell of a starbase, and when I send a Constructor there the only options I have are to create a Military outpost or a Diplomatic Outpost, no way to set up a Galactic Mall. What am I doing wrong?

Also, does this type of influencer starbase increase the morale of the population on the planets in its area of effect? Is 'mining an approval resource' the only way to have a starbase increase approval?

I'm not sure I follow you...

To build a starbase, you send out a Constructor ship. Once you're in the right spot, you select "Construct". You're then given the option to build a Military base, an Economic base, or an Influence base. If you build the Influence base, then you can send more Constructors to that base to add the modules you want.

I'm not aware of Influence starbases increasing morale, but I could be wrong. Maybe that's why I have such bad morale problems. I'm not building enough Influence starbases.

The folllwing will hopefully be less confusing:

1. I send a Constructor, and choose the Option to build an Influencer Starbase. I get an Influencer Starbase with no modules.

2. I send another Constructor, and receive the option to add a Military Module or a Diplomatic Outpost. I want neither. On page 44 of the pdf manual that came with the downloaded game, the 3rd table from the top says I should have the option to create an Influencer Starbase with a Galactic Mall as the first module (Influence branch of the tech tree) instead of the Diplomatic Outpost (Diplomatic branch). I want to create this one, with the faint hope that a Galactic Mall would increase people's morale, I know it will increase mine . But I don't get this option.

In order to get the galactic mall, you must get the diplomatic outpost.

Some strbase modules are tiered so that you must get the preceding ones first.

Hope this helps

It seems like there's a problem with researched vs traded techs... I have a somewhat similiar problem: Custom designed freighter, requiring Trade, Impulse Drive, Impulse Drive II, and General Life Support. I have all 4 techs - but I traded for one. The ship doesn't show in the shipyard for me (normal freighters do though). I normally make a base model with all the looks I want, but no engines or other components, then upgrade that as I get new techs to improve the system - this way the base ship design is available as I research hull size alone.

Side note: An option to view all ship designs, buildable or not, would be nice.

I understand. Some starbase modules have prerequisites, generally only within one line of modules, and based on what order the techs are researched. So, in order to build the Galactic Mall you need to first build the Diplomatic Outpost and the Relations Center, since you have to research thier required techs before you can research Advanced Trade.

Unfortunatlly, Influencer starbases don't improve morale only influence so it's better to build them near other civs planets.

Influencer starbases don't improve morale only influence

This is correct but they will save your planet from flipping if you are on the frontier.

Always handy to have one influence SB in your realm. Just incase.
