Supported screen resolutions?

Hi,
I am a possible buyer of this game and have been looking at the forums and and are really pleased about the level of supportthis game seems to get!
My question is if this game allows me to run in 1920 x 1200?

be careful what you wish for....

this game is VERY particular about resolutions, video settings, amongst other things.

seems like many people have few troubles, but a minority are having issues along these lines

I'd say it's worth a shot, but you may have to end up waiting for a real patch with some of the rest of us...

Should work. If the game doesn't have it in the screen options menu you can edit a ini file so the game runs in 1920x1200. (my documents\My Games\GalCiv2\prefs.ini)

Are people having resolution problems? I am running at 1920x1200 and there are absolutely no problems with that. And the developers are trying to support all resolutions above 1024x768, so if you were to have a problem then it should get fixed pretty fast.

I disagree. I tried a number of settings, and they all worked. There are problems for some people, but for the majority the game seems to play just fine.

1920x1200 here and no problems since day 1.

Tried with both the ATI 9800 and the nVidia 7800GT. both with latest drivers.
(of course it gets abit choppy with the ATI 9800 with large galaxies but thats another factor altogether)

Yep, me too, no problems with 1920x1200, nor with any other setting through the options screen. Works like a charme!

And you NEED to buy this game, WOW. Really fantastic. I loved Galciv 1, but this one is worth alone buying a PC for!

I am resurrecting this thread because I want to ask a question. I know that when Galciv 1 and 2 came out 1024 X 768 was a very desirable minimum resolution, but today in 2008 we now have ultra mobile pc's (UMPC) that only support a resolution of 1024 X 600. Is it possible to force either of the Galciv games to this resolution. My UMPC is more than capable of running either game except for the resolution. I think it would be great if I could take either one or both of those games on the road to play like one does their ds or psp.

You can force the game to use sub-minimum resolutions by entering them manually in the prefs.ini file, but the interface won't scale down properly. Things are liable to be a bit jumbled or overlapping in places.
