Vanishing "Turn" button - got a savegame

Hello all,

First, congratulations for this great game.. it just get better and better as I play : )
Im using version 1.0X, latest patch. My video drivers are the latest ones from nvidia, and I got the "vanishing turn button" bug... I saved the game, and if I reload, the button still isnt there.. would it help to track the bug if I send this save to someone?

Thanks!

Marcelo
*EDIT* I guess this should be on "STICKY: Problem IN-GAME? Read Here" so posted it there.

Ditto. I also have a save game from before the vainsh, but it goes away within the next two turns. therefore I can't continue.

In fact, I have yet to finish a non-campaign game because of this. Every time I play I lose the turn button after several years.

I'm going to have to resort to not starting a new game until this is fixed, because otherwise I will be stuck after it starts to get interesting, which is a shame, I was in control of half the universe.

PS. I never realised space was flat... you learn something new everyday.

*ponders this game in 3-dimensions... that would start to get confusing... and HUUGE*

A good way to get the Turn button to reappear is to retire and then load the game back up. The button will come back so you can end the turn

Well, it comes back... but then I press it and still nothing happens... so no luck there

I, too, have experienced this nefarious bug.

I have had some success in circumventing it by loading the last autosave (assuming its a few turns back, if not, then the previous autosave), then continuing play as normal. It stinks having to do stuff over again, but not as bad as loosing your game.

This bug has been around since Beta 1. It happens very randomly, so I think Stardock is having a hard time hunting it down. It's a really pain in the butt when it happens.

*bump* (it would be nice to know if this is being looked in to)

Also, what happened to removing all known bugs in a game before it is released? Just a thought..

(I know, these things are harder than they sound... if ya got a release date you gotta release)

Find me a game studio that does this and I will show you a game studio that never ships anything. This is simply not realisitc. Bugs that are showstoppers will always get fixed if they are known. The rest is all economics. Is the bug simply an annoyance? How many of the people who purchased the game will actually run into the bug? Is it worth the man hours to fix this bug that almost no one will see?

I know, don't worry... I would of done the same in that situation

if 100 beta testers had 2 people see the bug in 1% of their games, thats a real low percentage to have to worry about... only problem is, scale that to tens of thousands of players, and it does turn up more often than you would like.

All in all I can't see what could of been done about it before hand. But every bug is worth fixing if you want to say that your game is bug-less, which I am sure the likes of Brad would like to boast about...

I too have just found this vanishing turn button. I've got the save game and debug.err if it's needed.

Same here, but no savegame, functionality restores after you exit the game ...

I've found that if you wait a minute or so after the turn button disappears, the turn completes normally. Use the time to go get some coffee or take a piss break or something...
