So, stupid question

from GalCiv2 Forums
I am new to this game and I just won an Influence victory. I can't for the life of me figure out how to build new ships. I know I can create my own, but how do you build more advanced war ships and stuff (without creating my own).

I currently am the war race.

Help? I can only build a constructor, frigate, defender, scout, and transport and I have researched so much stuff.

There are very few *default* ships in the game. They expect you to at least design your own ships in terms of weapons and defenses. You'll find that as you research the hull sizes you do get a few more default warships. My advice is this:

- Go into the ship yard
- Select a hull size (tiny or small if you didn't research larger hulls)
- Select a weapon and place it on one of the red arrows (you have to have researched at least one of the weapon theories)
- Select a defense and place it on one of the red arrows (you have to have researched at least one of the defensive theories)
- Select an engine and place it on one of the red arrows
- Give your ship a name (you can't use the default names)
- Click save
- Click Done
- Goto a planet with a starport
- Build your new ship. Make sure either the *All* tab or the *User* tab is selected. If you select *Core* it will show you only the default ships.

You could also check out the tutorial on ship building. You can watch the ship building process there.

If you did a digital download via Stardock you have to download the tutorials separately.
