Ship builder question

is it possible to mirror a piece? for example, while the hardpoints on the left and right side of the tiny fighter are identical and facing opposite directions the wings do not go on centered. One wing is always sitting way higher and since the textures from one side of the wing to the other are different they look different when put on the ship in traditional left and right wing fassion. It would not be a problem at all if there was a shortcut button or something that would mirror the piece for use on the opposite side.

Hopefully there is one I dont know about because I could definitly see myself sinking way too much time into the shipbuilder. I did notice that if you go to place a piece and adjust the size slider you can then fine tune it using the left and right buttons on the keyboard if you want something to fit exactly right.

Yeah, i agree.. found this bug in the first hour i was playing with the builder.

Here are two screenies showing the problem with one of the "wing" pieces

The piece here needs to be "mirrored".

I'll have to check this out, never noticed it while building my ships, and I use the "wings" quite often on small fighter craft.

So anyone else have this problem or is it just us 2?

Yeah, I noticed it too. Had to zoom in on the wings on one I built, and there it was, can't flip them either. What is the deal? Looks kind of odd, the wings not being mirrored. Any way to fix this?

Mirroring won't solve the issue of using that part as a single central 'fin'. They need to make that bloody thing symmetrical.

BTW this is not the only ship builder glitch. Quite a few hardpoints, parts and hulls that are supposed to be symmetrical are in fact not (at least not on a pixel-by-pixel basis).

I have problems when using those particularly wings, too. The only workaround I have found is to use 2 extenders or antennas to position the wings so that they appear level. This does not solve the problem of the pentagonal tube being upsidedown on the right side though.

So who do i send an email to at Stardock to ask about this? Do the dev's often browse the board?

The devs are aware of the misplaced hardpoints on some models (there was even a mod that fixed some of them, I believe it was rolled into an earlier patch). No telling when it will get fixed though.

In the meanwhile, if you use my mod you can use the hardpoint extensions to put hardpoints wherever you want, and get precision placement of extras on your designs (at least, those which can be symetrically placed at all). Check it out: http://library.galciv2.com/?m=22

"misplaced hardpoint"? I don't have a problem with the hard point. The problem is i want to be able to mirror the piece on the z-axis ( assuming that z points along the length of the ship ). So it's not really a bug, more of a feature request.
