C'mon now, anyone? Is there an easier way to take screenies other than PRNTSCRN, alt-tab, and paste into an image program? Is there any way to allow for some sort of screen shot directory that saves screenshots?

Also, what format do you need to use to have your image show up on these forums?

Are these done using the default ship designer in-game or has an external application been used?

The game wouldn't be as impressive if you had to use an external application to do these. Well, most of them, I'm pretty sure the Bird of Prey was done externally and imported, though all the rest of the ships look like they could be done in the ship builder.

As for any parts that you don't recognize, the CE did include some jewelry, so if you preordered, make sure you download the CE stuff

Please please PLEASE upload those designs so us mortals can enjoy them.

and... what "fin under the main hull"?? I don't usually use fins on my ships.. except maybe for strike craft or the bridge.

all there is under the main hull is one of those sleek looking engine pod and 2 braces connecting to the the side engine pods where the top two braces meet the bottom braces... sorta like a sandwich.)

this time I used Fraps so I did a few more shots of the ship at different perspective at one go.. lol before I was to lazy to go in-game, take picture, and alt-tab back out to paste image.. rinse repeat...

I use a nifty application called GrabClipSave, which basically monitors the clipboard for content. When you press PrintScreen, it saves the clipboard contents to a file in a directory you specify, with quite a few options for file format, size and a few others. The application site seems to be offline though, so if you want to try it, just let me know and I'll email the last binary I have here to you.

Any way of sharing and exchanging these??

i will upload my ship-design today..

i dunno if theres an easier way to get the design into the game so im asking before:
so i dunno at least if you need the same hull-tech to get the design into.. but i think yes

- getting the file and extract it into the dir: "..\my games\galciv2\ships"
- start game.. load your save/game..
- at least you might need large-hull-tech (think so)
- create a new ship.. just the large hull nothing else and save it (dont forget the name)
- save your game and quit
- go to the "..\my games\galciv2\ships" folder.. there should be 2 files of your saved ship.. xyz.shipclass and xyz.shipcfg
- copy the name of the .shipcfg-file and delete that file.. than past the name into the download/extracted shipcfg-file-name
- start your game.. load your save and the ship should be ingame

or is there any better way?

No clue if y'all can see the images, what's the proper format for showing pictures on these boards? Usually the [IMG] tags work fine, but not on these boards...

. BTW...set everyone's logistics at 100 to get some reallllly nice battles

So, with the new patch I decided to scrap my old Thalan designs and try new stuff. So far I have:
