All i do is build them and then leave them in the shipyards. May then 'ready' the defence platforms by launching them to low orbit in the path of the incoming adversary

That or i just put 4 of them round the planet and keep them stocked with the best weapon/armour i have.

Thanks! Took some tweaking, (went thru several phases before perfecting it). The Dragonclaw and Razorclaw are more of a "Hunter/Killer" class of ships, designed specifically for head-to-head combat with any and everything the enemy can throw at you. Here are the specs for both:

Like Defenders, for planetary defense and military deterrant.

The Construction Module is just a cargo-hull constructor ship.

A new ship class, the Planetary Assault Ship. Towards the end of the game, both the Drengin and the Terrans were building tough defenders. Missile attacks around 21-25 each. So to take em down, I invested heavily in anti-missile tech, and eventually had this beauty: The BB Invincible (Missile-40, Anti-Missile-40, Speed-25). Add some small-hull Advanced Troop Transports, and roast until golden brown.

Various designs modeled after some of my favorite sci-fi ships, except for the Constructor. Everything was done with the game editor so they aren't exact...more like my Gal Civ interpretations.

I am truly humbled by these designs. I usually just slap on a few extras and call it a day. I had no idea the ship editor was capable of producing such masterworks.

heh, I need to work more on creating elaborate designs.

Also, Blackrock, having Kryo's hull mod does help, although I think those were made without the mod.

Eventually I'd like to share my designs in the library. I haven't done it yet (haven't really read how to do it yet) but before I do I'd like to get a more complete set. This latest batch from my last game includes (some are shown above): Star Wars styles: A-Wing, B-Wing, X-Wing, Y-Wing, Millenium Falcon, Slave I, and the Imperial Shuttle. I have a really good Star Destroyer (more refined than my 1.0 version) but I never used it in the last game.

The Star Trek style ships I've made include: Constitution class, Galaxy class, the modified Galaxy class with the third nacelle (seen in the series finale), Miranda class (USS Reliant). I've also made quite a few others (not shown); these include the USS Stargazer (Picard's first ship), a bunch with different nacelle configurations (single nacelles, three nacelles, etc) and several attempts at the Excelsior type ship.

I also have several purely original ships like the constructors. They are actually some of my favorite to design. I like being able to put huge claws and manipulators on them so they look like huge flying tools and construction machines. Most of my trade ships also include cranes and arms which would be used to load and unload cargo.

Ships I'm working on: a decent TIE fighter (all types), my own Bird of Prey and other Klingon style ships (I know some people have already made great ones). I've tried several times to make a Romulan Warbird but I'm still not satisfied with it yet. I've got a hull picked out for a Battlestar Galactica but I haven't worked on it yet. Others include the dropship from Aliens, and the Lexx.

The new features on the editor have been great. All my ships are made with the editor, no mods.

yea well I usually spend 20 minutes sometimes on the ship designs, sometimes longer if the designs are more complicated, but I'm not sure how some of these were made, especially the larger ones. I usually make various ones during the game and I don't really have any particular design scheme, so I just design it to whatever it is I have in mind. and I usually try to make the warships look fierce and stuff.

Ah, my designs aren't a fifth as good as all yours, but what the hell.

The Terran Alliance does bast in times of peace, and I usualy don't heavily arm even my warships. The Amberclad Heavy Cruiser is a noticable exception.

For massed orbital defense and escort of civilian fleets we employ a simple, cheap design; the Longbowman II. [Longbowman I's speed sucked so we upgraded]

Of course buisiness is better than combat with our slimy brothers in this great galaxy. The Mars Freighter is here to ensure that they trust us enough to put over half of their economy in the hands of my merchant marines.

Rounding out my roster of ships is the Argo Starbase Construction Ship. The Argo will establish military and economic outposts in the darkest reaches of the universe [even in Dread Lord space, although they don't really like that.]
