Sorry if I am posting too many Trekish models. I just love the spaceship design portion of the game so much.
I still am not sure what files to actually post to the library for others to download.

Axel Kane, go into my documents/my games/galciv2/ships.

In the ships folder, there are a number of files for the ships you've customized (typically XML files but listed under the names you gave when you made them with the shipbuilder).

This is what you need to zip up and send to either the library or direct. I'd love to use those ships you've built, so if you want to send them to me direct, please do so to [email protected]. Otherwise, I'll hope to see them in the library (although they take SO long to update there, I hope you don't mind sending direct).

Let me be the first to say that I'm no good at this, but I wanted to share one or two of my ships anyway. I thought I'd start off with my feeble attemts to portray an Eldar Void Stalker.

It is also possible to build an even earlier model, with a speed of only 5 instead of 7. This can save the cost of the whole XenoEngineering->BasicMiniturization tree, as well as mass driver theory, cutting the research cost nearly in half. And some early costs are usually pre-paid in racial picks, or easily tech traded.

How do you guys get these cool pics posted? Better yet, how do you get the screen shots? I tried to get some of my ships, and can't figure how to do it. The only way I can get a pic of my ships to come up is in the "build ship" screen. I think I have designed some pretty cool ships and would like to share. Help please!

There are quite a few posts about how to do this earlier in the thread. Basicaly, you use the "print screen" key on your keyboard to take the screenshot. You then have to exit the game. (alt-tabbing works on my computer) and then 'paste' the image into an image editor. (I use mspaint.) You can then crop/resize the image to get what you want and save it. Again, I use jpg to cut down on file size. There are several posts scattered about the thread that then tell you how to host the image for posting here.

I take my images from both the 'build ships' screen, and by zooming in on the craft in the navigation window. I've seen a few here that take them during battle scenes. Play with the cameras available till you see something you like.

Thanks BondKitty. I did try the "alt-printscreen" method, just wasn't sure where to paste it. Also, I didn't think about doing that during a battle scene, but it makes sense now. That is what I really wanted, an image with like some of the ones I saw here. As soon as I get off work today, I'll try it. I have a couple of new designs I created for the Dregian(sp?).

I call it the Tigerclaw, a name I did steal from the Wing Commander series.

I knew I had heard that somewhere before! Damn! Now I have to go and rename my ship design!! Rats! @#$%$#!! Cool design though adept.

Finally figured out the screen capture during battles...here are a couple of screen shots of my latest design, the Drengin Razorclaw..cuts thru the enemy like a...well, razor...lol
