I just love spending my time in the ship creator, and mostly when i make my ships i build them from scratch, trying to apply my fantasies of my ships as "logical" as possible.
Thats i never use wings on my bigger ships, since wings are useless in vacuum, etc etc.

Good job Croc, that frieghter is awesome. Utility ships are the hardest to make look 'cool' IMHO.

Croc411, I really like those ships, very creative. I have made some myself that remind me of those designs, especially that construction ship with the cranes on it. Why don't you upload these in a pack, I would like to have them.

The Earthling Cruiser from the Star Control games. First serious attempt at making a ship actually look like something.

Guys, great work! Is there anyway to download these ship design files and use them in my games? I like the idea of cool ships but am not creative enough (read: far to lazy to) design any myself. Directions where and instuctions how to would be welcome. Also if you upgrade a ship but save it as a different name will the original model remain as well as the upgrade? Thanks.

1) take any ship from the library here in GCII or any other site that hosts mods such as the Galactic Core (http://thegalacticcore.com) and they should all come with install instructions for you.

2) The original ship will remain as well as the upgraded one.

Dang it! Why don't they put in some SAUCER parts so we can do half-way decent Star Trek Ships and Classic UFOs?!!?

Wow I see some nice designs here.

As for me... I haven't had much time to play for a while, only patched to 1.1 a few days ago and didn't even get to
really start playing again till yesterday.

Oh well, here's another of my "Lohengram" styled ship..

My primary defender based on a huge hull.
I threw it together in a hurry, so its stilll in progress.


Just a little personal note:
Dont take it personally, but i think its lame using KRYOhullmod to just put on a bunch of hulls on a ship, kinda takes away half of the creativity just putting on a half finished design

I would be grateful though if you helpe me out and explained to me how i send shipmodels etc, just the xml fies?

Yup... sort of

In \My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2\ships you will see there are two entries for your ship, the SHIPCFG file and the XML document. All you need to do is zip a copy of these two files along with a quick text entry saying who you are in the forums and if you used any mods to make the ship (shouldn't need them once its complete as all can use the ship) and an in-game image (like above) to the above email address

Sashi, simply because you say, “Don’t take it personally,” doesn’t make it any less insulting to everyone here.

Believe it or not, most of the people here are not professional designers. We’re just a bunch of regular Joes who love Sci-Fi, and have one unique thing in common: we love starships.

We all hope to make designs that are great works of art, but in the end, we do what we can. I think everyone who posts on here should be commentated for at least trying. If nothing else, we have all succeeded in creating something that made at least one person happy. And that is all that really maters.

Ofcourse youre right, i guess im just one of those have-to-whine-artists.
Guess im just a little easily annoyed by people who brag about thier "IKEA"artwork
