Will sound problem affect gameplay?

no sound at all on computer, will GalCiv2 work?

Basically my dilemma is that i want to buy the game, but i dunno if it will work on my comp. Before you go refer me to stuff, let me explain my situation. my computer fits the min requirements. Like, everything would work on the computer if i installed it i'm pretty sure. But, the thing is, my computer doesn't have sound. By saying that i mean that all the components of sound are there, but the computer doesn't recognize a device for sound. This is a personal computer problem i know, don't know to fix it, but i've learned to accept it and continue life. My question is will the computer not recognizing a sound device not allow me to play GalCiv2? My other turn based strategy game, Civ 4, works fine (of course without sound), and the only thing that impedes me playing Civ4 is like an alert box that tells me there is no sound on the computer, and i just press ok and play anyway. This is what i hope will happen with GalCiv2 until i can get a laptop to play it on, but i won't buy the game unless i know if this problem will seriously affect game performance. If anyone can answer this, that'd be really great, thanks

I can't think of a time when you need sound, but can say that the game will work without sound. You can actually opt out on installing the multimedia module (if downloading through Stardock Central), which will save you some extra hdd space, too.

Send an email to mhaber at stardock.com referencing this thread and I'll see what I can do about helping you troubleshoot (and most likely resolve) your sound problem.
