This thread is for people who have found some bug, glitch, typo, oversight, you name it.  If you are running into a serious in-game problem (i.e. one that prevents you from playing) see the other sticky on IN-GAME problems. 

Here's how to report something we screwed up on:

1) What the bug/glitch is.

2) How to reproduce it.

Note: Glitches are things that are definitely glitches.  This is NOT a wish list thread or a place to tell us how you think we should have implemented some feature differently.

a couple things.

ship turns white when i go to upgrade. it returns to normal when i exit that screen, could be my computer is a bit old.

when i am on the colony screen and i select a bonus tile i can no longer scroll the text in the box below. only after latest patch.

there also seems to be an issue with the game recalling things from previous games. i saw someone report about this regarding a seperate issue; i notice it when i lock one of the production sliders and then start a new game without quiting, the sliders are still locked. apparently this info was transfered to the new game. if i quit and restart everything appears to be refreshed.

once, i had a few custom ships that i saved get lost. they weren't there when i started a new game. still don't know where they are. where do these get saved? even after similar tech research. one was a colony ship. only happened once so maybe i did something different i didn't realize.

One of my two planets, Mars, never got past 2.56 billion people. Approval was at 80% but the planet never grew.

At the end of the game, which didn't take long because I had only two planets, Mars was listed as my most populous colony even though Earth had 17 billion people.

Saved game available if needed.

In the planet screen for the tile descriotion text, when there is an artifact, the last sentence describing it is cut off...

What you see is "making it a perfect" at the bottom of the textbox.

The info panel shows only mass drivers/armor combo.

Bug: Throughout the game play, the game will start skipping, like a record player that has a scratch. It usually will takes a few minutes before it gets back to normal, or I hit the space bar, then it may start playing again. But it does it every game. I have downloaded the current patch and it still continues to do it. I have read the threads and haven't seen a post that shows the game skipping/frezzing up like this.

Once plasma 1 reseach gives plasma 1 weapons. Plasma 2 research also gives plasma 1 weapons. Plasma 3 research gives plasma 3 weapons. There is no Plasma 2 weapons.

I have the most recent patch installed.

UPDATE to posts #28 and #212

The only core ships which I can't get to appear in a sandbox game are the:

Missile Boat
Sniper
Star Raider

All of the other core ships appear normally when their techs are researched.

Bug: When a galactic republic, attack a planet of an empire you are not currently at war with. The screen that comes up says the vote is about going to war with %s. That is, with "percent-s". I have a screenshot if it helps (please contact by email).

I'm having a problem... I can load into the game fine, and see the movie, but at the main menu, there is no text above the buttons, and this goes through the whole game. I can't even really play.

My drivers are good, and my computer is above min levels...

1) Capitol Improvement Problem: If player is working toward the building of a capitol improvement on a planet (tech, manufacturing, economic) but comes to control another civ's planet with that improvement already in existance, he can no longer build his own since cannot build another once one exists and capitol improvements cannot be demolished (for some reason that eludes me). This can be very frustrating if the acquired improvement was wasted by the AI on a Class 4 planet and the player was working toward building it on a Class 18 planet for example.

2)Manufacturing Capitol Improvement should be listed as a benefit of 'Xeno Industrial Research' in the in-game Tech tree. It is not.

3)Also have the frequent inability to create fleets metioned in #8, often a single ship shows as a fleet and it can be disbanded but problem still exists. Usually on the subsequent turn ships will form a fleet correctly.

4)If the mini-map is zoomed in and I change to a different object (ship/planet), the mini-map stays centered on the previous selection, regrardless of how far away the new selected object is. Zooming in or out again will correct the positioning but it's a pain and shouldn't be necessary.

Minor bug: The tech description for Subspace Rebounder misspells a word. "phsyically" should be "physically".

Ok, I've been playing for a couple of days straight and I've noticed a few glitches:

1. Occasional CTD's - only three so far in about 8 hours of playing, two during end of turn processing; one happened when an enemy troop transport ship for some reason moved right onto one of my warships like it was going to attack or something.

2. The thing a lot of other people have mentioned about sometimes two ships or fleets get selected at the same time at different locations and then they both move.

3. The thing a lot of other people have mentioned where there is a ship that just won't join a fleet no matter what you do. Sometimes trying various combinations of these ships results in a phantom fleet of size 0 logistics with no ships in it too.

4. Occasionally some of the predefined ships are invisible in the preview window on the build screen when you click on them in the ship list.

5. A number of the ship hulls have attachment points that are pointing the wrong direction - like not symetrical with the one on the opposite side, or pointing inward into the hull structure.

6. Occasionally the AI will build ships with defensive components but no offensive components at all. That doesn't really make a lot of sense.

7. When I reload a saved game the influence borders are contracted from where they were when I saved and exited. It takes about two or three turns for them to get back to where they should be. This is hard to see unless you're playing a huge map.

8. When I reload a saved game on the first turn the my research production is way down from where it was when I saved. After one turn it goes back up where it should be.

9. If I Alt-Tab out of the game and then go back in, sometimes the little red pirate flag icons next to the planets that say they could rebel disappear.

10. On the Distribution of Voting Power pie chart it includes slices for all the opponents that have been eliminated.

11. When a starbase or ship of mine get's destroyed, sometimes a permanent "line of sight" circle stays where it used to be on the main map for the rest of the game.

12. Occasionally there are enemy freighters on trade routes on the main map that I try to attack, but my ships move right on top of them like they are not even there and nothing happens.

13. Occasionally opponents will trade tech with me but I won't actually receive what they give me. Like one time I had an oppenent trade the Subspace Rebounder tech to me three consecutive times for three different techs of mine, but I never actually got the tech. This also happens sometime when I invade a planet, and it says I captured a tech, but I don't actually get it.

14. If I leave the game on for a really long time, somtimes the music starts doing a thing where it does little skips about once every 1.5 seconds at the same time as my hard drive light turns on. These keeps up constantly until until the music switches to another song it then immediately stops happening.

That's all I can think of right now.

First off, AWESOME game! StarDock rocks, and GalCiv2 is very cool... Way to go, guys!!

I don't know if this is the case in every game, but I definitely have a Saved Game (off the Campaign map) where the Research tile specials do not offer any bonus. In another thread, I saw a similar poster list the same problem--would be happy to offer the saved game as well as my debugger file if it helps.

1) Specifically, I have a number of Xeno Labs built, including 1 on a 300% bonus square, but cannot produce more than 7 Research points total. Even with my spent cranked to 100% and Technology getting 66% of my allocation, I can only double it up to 14. It's on 1 specific planet; others seem to be working fine (e.g., the Manufacturing bonus tiles!).

2) A few typos survived from the first game! In the Race bonuses, various items that should just be listed as "+1" get listed as "+10" (typically meaning "+10%", I gather, although I only learn this thru Trial & Error). Ship Speed and Trading Routes are the two best examples I can think of. This is also true for some of the technologies (Range increasing techs and movement increasing techs are the most conspicuous examples). Feels as though the text editor has some issues with %, maybe? Not a big deal, but a bit confusing if it's as simple as fixing some text strings...

3) Lastly, the bonuses listed on the resource tiles don't match the bonuses listed in the books. In addition, some of the resource tile descriptions run off the limited window space available on the screen. There is a "scroll bar" I can click on, but it doesn't work. Not a game stopper at all, but just a loose piece of code to be fixed whenever somebody at StarDock has some downtime (I'm thinking that'll be mid-November, given the rate you guys are rolling out serious gameplay enhancements!).

The problem I,m having is the game seems to take like 5 minutes for a turn every so often. I,m playing on a tiny gallaxy and I have a killer system, 2 G of memory. I don,t believe it is related to the system .

Unable to see Race color on mini-map, or main screen.

Playing a custom race on a gigantic map with 8 AI players: I tried to find a color that would be visible, yet distinguishable from the other races. I chose the light purple (darker purple is the Yor). The ship action labels (auto survey, etc) are as faint as trade route lines, same for the influence lines and anything on the mini-map.

This would be a simple fix unworthy of a bug report IF we could change colors during the game. As it is, choosing a supplied color and being unable to see it without putting my nose 6 inches from the display is a bug.

Whenever I load a game all of my ship designs change, also if I try to upgrade a ship design all of the parts are stripped away and I have to start from scratch, only happened in the latest patch.

I found only one bug so far - this concerns the ship design page, when designing a ship - should you remove a ship part that you placed before with a right mouse click (on the part in the 3d screen) then it is not removed from the main list below the 3d display. This then causes a freeze that won't let you select another part from the main list unless you clear the entire project and start again. Everything works fine should you remove the part using the remove tool on the bar, this way however won't allow you to remove something you don't like early in the design.

Move a constructor on top of another ship. It still displays its context menu not the fleet menu. Have it construct a starbase. WHAMMO, the other ship is gone. It should either remain to be moved elsewhere, or the starbase should not be allowed to be built on top of it.

Rally point governor seems to have issues in new version. When I change the rally points not all the ships go to the new rally point. Some get in a weird stuck mode that requires me to tell it where to go. Further more it DOES NOT allow selecting planets when the ships get stuck like this. When you click on a planet (say to launch a ship there) it jumps the selection back to one of the stuck ships.

The left-side panel displaying the planets has a different # of weeks displayed for social production than when actually viewing the planet.

Also, when using diplomacy to trade "trade goods" it doesn't seem to work. They accept the deal BUT I don't have it listed as mine after that to trade with anyone else. They don't have it listed anymore either. I don't have the ability to build it on any planet. So, it seems to not work right.

Bug: When loading a saved custom race, it is loaded with +10 social production, +10 military production, and +4% logistics more than it began with. These will accumulate through save/load cycles.

Bug: Custom race starts with only 4% logistics. (Always on my machine.)

Bug: Trading routes on custom race are listed as +1%/+2%+3%. This is actually just +routes.

Bug: Computer AI does not build Farming enhancements. This limits its economy severely.

Bug: Sometimes when the turn button is pressed, influence and events will update, but technology and ship movement does not.

Problem: Once customized, there is no way to restore a race to its default settings. I had a friend check out the game and he messed with all the race stats. Now I have no way to restore them.

Minimap problems...

1. When I zoom, the borders get messed up...
2. The turn button is too close to the minimap. When trying to move to the part of the screen near the turn button, the turn button gets pressed instead. Suggestion: move it away from the minimap...

Bug/Glitch: When using control-n the settings for research (and perhaps other things) do not remain the same. I set it to slow research, and first game it said 40 weeks for xeno engineering, and then after ctrl-n it said 10.

had a really odd glitch yesterday in the campaign in the first dreadlords mission with a game.- it seems if you invade the last drengin planet on a turn they were going to surrender to another player, they still do even though they dont have a planet anymore. the problem is if you OWN that planet, then all the assets of the planet owner

This ones a typo I guess.

There are two "ultimate" weapons in one weapon catagory of the tech tree.

i.e. The last item to research says "the ultimate weapon in rail gun tech" and the research previous to it says "the ultimate weapon available for this type".

But there can only be one "ultimate" weapon otherwise it isnt the ultimate is it?!

I built the Galactic Guide Book which is supposed to reduce the size of survey modules to 0. However in the ship yard screen it is charging me 9 size points to install the Module. I beleve I built the Gude Book 1/2 way then bought the rest of the production.
