Bug: Starbase Ship Defense Not Working?

Hope I'm wrong on this, but when I upgrade a star base with a ship assist (defense), it doesn't seem to add the bonus. Hover the mouse above my lovely defense 0 ship, and yes, it says there is 0 from assist. Anyone else seeing this? Great game otherwise...

Actually, the starbase defenses get applied only when you have "at least" a 1 defense in any category... I don't agree with it as well but I guess they made it that way for balance purposes.

It's just not realistic this way. I could agree that a Starbase only improves Attack if a ship has at least 1 Attack in any category... but not Defense. I mean, if a starbase has an area shield why do I still need a shield on my ships for that to work, right?

I mean wow...just wow... are we going for a world record on how often this question is asked and thought of as a bug? I mean there are like a Bajillion posts on this already.....sheesh.

You don't need a 1 in every defense category, just a 1 or better in some defense period. Same with attack: If you have 1 attack on the ship at all, all the attack bonuses will be applied.

octavius, it IS a bug. Consider the description, and the "attack assist" works, and the concept of a starbase only interdicting missiles aimed at a ship that already has defenses. It takes doublethink with the threat of rats to decide everything is fine.

Also bear in mind that there is no working 'search' function... people can't always find relevant threads.

Sorry to post so many times..I can't figure these forums out!! I post messages and then they seem to disappear. I wish the site used the standard paradox style forums...much easier..
