Set exit square for planets

Is there a way to do this that I'm not finding? Seems to me that if my planet is being invaded, and I want to launch a fleet of ships (because I don't have orbital fleet managers built) to protcect my world, I shouldn't have to launch the ship on the opposite side of the planet from where the enemies are coming...particularly if I'm using ships without many moves per week. If I could launch ships to any tile surrounding my planet I could get the jump on attacking enemy forces.

Not at the moment...bu we will log the feature request to possibly add to a future update!

Possibly a good feature. Buy if you implement it, can you also give us a way turn that feature off.

You could select the ship (or multiple ships by pressing control to select multiple ships - another feature I would love to have implemented.) and right click on the square on the map you want to launch at.

Just an idea at how to implement this idea.

In addition to that though, it would be annoying to have to set the launch square for EVERY ship. There should be a way to set the default, see it on the map, and override the default for a specific ship.

I agree with amaevis. I think the default should be where it is, and then we could set the launch square globally for all planets, for each individual planet, or each individual ship. I'm sure this is the most difficult possible way to implement it, as it has the most options, but in my mind would be the most useful.

Here's my reasoning behind a global exit square setting:

When I'm at war with another civilization, I'm usually sharing a border with them, or their territory is in a certain direction from me. Sometimes there will be a curved border where a single exit tile for all colonies won't suffice, but even then I might be only 1 square away from income ships, rather than 2.

Say I'm on the lower right side of the map and my enemy has a colony 12 parsecs from my planet in the upper left. Their ships launch 11 parsecs away from me, and mine launch 13 parsecs away from theirs. That can be an entire turn when it comes to small ships with no added engines.
