Another post about scrolling. Sorry.

Hi,

First, great game! I am hooked. However, I am sorry, I know this has been said before, but not being able to scroll diagonally is horrible. I was somewhat shocked. I beg you to fix this, because I have some sort of mental block about not being able to scroll diagonally and it causes much mental anguish.

Have you tried click-dragging? Between that and jumping to where I want to go on the mini-map I don't even notice diagonal scrolling missing anymore.

Ya, I use the click and drag method. I was frustrated with the diagnol scrolling at first also, but now I never scroll.

Funny thing is I tryed playing Age of Empires III today, and i freeked out when I could not Drag. I have to say I never use the side scrolling in Gal Civ.

Of cause we do not use side scrolling in GalCiv2. But this is only because it is horrible. I would do it still, just because it is more common and I used to it.

It seems odd that you guys couldn't put in diagonal scrolling AND dragging, the two don't have to be mutually exclusive...

Why don't you try to zoom out, change focus then zoom in?

BTW, the strategic map with all icons is very nice to spot tiny fighters that may be unnoticed otherwise

BTW, I think there is a big problem scrolling, one that has been spotted during the beta and that may explain why it isn't in this game: the fact that the game can be played in a windowed mode, allowing you to move the mouse out of the window to another one. But you don't want in that case to have your map focus changed. And how will the computer know that you want to scroll or that you want to move the cursor to another window? That could be very tricky.

Same for me - side scrolling seems so "last century" now.
