Cannot build "any" ships

Bug Reports

Please help! On my second game I encountered a bug that is preventing me from playing the game. I had already played one full game and won on a cultural victory and was enjoying the game completely and looking forward to trying a few other strategies when I encountered this game stopping bug! I cannot build "any" ships at "any" of my planets! I can only pay to speed purchase them, and not allow them a regular build schedule. When I pick on the plante to build ships it shows a "-1" build length, and /or shows "never" as a build option. Please help, this is keeping me from playing a game that I thoroughly enjoyed until i encountered this bug.

did you put money into military production?

did you build a star port?

Try adjusting your Spending slider up a bit and see if that helps. Also, make sure (while overall Spending is up) to put more spending into military production. If your money is in the negative, sometimes the game will automatically hault all production of ships and buildings to try to recoup some costs and get you into the black.

WishX... that's not the problem. It's that you cannot build anymore ships, ever, anymore. Can't buy them. When you would normally have completed building, nothing happens. Nothing at all.

I dont get it; This would be classified as a game ruining bug and should be stickied (referring to RemyAF), but how come ive not seen it in all my metaverse games or any of my normal play games? even once? and I assure you, im sitting on about the 40 mark. So strange.

It's been 9 days, but here's an update.

Some specifics on the problem:

When selecting to build None and returning to the main galactic overview screen, the bottom display for the planet correctly shows that it is building nothing.

When selecting to build any ship, no matter the build time shown in the Shipyard screen it shows 0 Weeks Remaining in the overview screen. The next turn, the ship is not built.

Selecting to Purchase the ship does not work, as it drops the time remaining to 0 Weeks again. Overview screen shows 0 Weeks remaining, ship not built. I even tried Purchasing and clicking End Turn while still in the Shipyard screen. The time left did not decrease and the ship did not change.

Oh, and if I Decommission the "broken" shipyard and build another one in its place, or elsewhere on the planet, it won't work.

It's as though the planet becomes officially unable to build ships.

The quasi-good news?

The problem only happens to the existing shipyards.

If I build a shipyard on another planet, it works just fine.

Yes, I think it's a game ruining bug. To be in a full-blown war and suddenly all 20 shipyards stop building can have catastrophic results.

Technically, I can just build more shipyards and I'm fine.

But I'd still file this one as a nasty bug.

I think you'd be best off if you could send a debug.err report and a save file to Stardock Support. I don't think there's much any of us can do here.

If you are not running version 1.0X, you should update using Stardock Central.  There was a bug in earlier versions that prevented ships from completing if you upgraded the ship design.

Hi I am seeing the same bug. I just started playing today, I've been using version 1.0X from the start.
I have tried this several times, and I think I have a consistent repro:
Start a new game:
Start building a scout.
Purchase the scout in full
Go to the ship deign screen and design another scout.
Obsolete the original scout design.
Switch to building the new scout design.
Now no matter how many turns go by, the ship is never finished.

I hope this repro helps, this broke a game I was playing, and now I can't fix it.
