Minor race->Major Idiot

how do i took ship

The Scottilingamoids were getting their butts handed to them, so to keep some balance in the galaxy (and a nice trading partner) I thought I'd help him out without getting involved in the war. So I gave him a nice medium defense vessel... which he left hanging around my planet. I thought maybe it was a glitch, so I flew a medium fighter in range of the fleets that were harrassing him, but no, he just left it floating there to be wiped out a few turns later.

Is this known? I have a save file if it'd help.

Yeah I had the same problem tonight. I gave the Scotts a Lucky Ranger to turn the tides of war with the yor, But it just sat there doing nothing.

At some point they appear to stop moving things around. In my current game the Andians are the only ones left. They had built scouts, traders, and constructors, but now they move nothing. In other games the independents have built starbases, attacked planets, etc. But again, they appear to stop doing anything at some point.

hopefully in the future minor civ AI can be adjustable like the major race AI. Also ...what difficulty were you playing on?

I was on Normal difficulty, 2 opponents.

I've seen it, in the games where it happend to me the ships I gave them were usually very far away from thier space. But, I also had a minor race that was allied with the terrans that invaded my space after more then 20 years of game time. Difficulty was beginner or normal, so they will hang around for a while.

I've seen majors leave gifted ships hanging around for many turns before using them. It may have something to do with how the AI is threaded, I have no idea. It's wacky.

I was having a problem with the Drath scattering tiny influence starbases in my influence area. They were at war with the minor race "Dark Yor" so I handed over 3 Scimitar Medium Fighters to them. They did the same thing. just left them sitting there. Very disappointing.

Whenever I click on them though, they show up as 0/6 on movement. It's like they don't regain their movement points each round? VERY odd.

I had that happen too. I *think* it was because I gave them a ship out of range of their planets. They couldn't move it because trying to move to any square was out of range for the ship.

Later I moved ships next to their planet before gifting them and they moved them right away.
