Custom Race suggestion: design starting solar system

Ok, I just found out that all the races have a set 'home' solar system they always start with in normal games...and I as a custom race person am stuck with random stuff that may give me a class 10 and a class 4. Is there a way to make custom races have decent planets?

I love using custom races, and would be quite pleased to have the option to choose the attributes of my starting system as well.

There was a post a few days back by one of the developers explaining how to mod one of the mddable files to do just that. I don't remember when, you'll have to search. I assume this will appear again.perhaps in the metaverse, after the developers have had a chance to catch their breath and recover. I do like your idea.

It doesn't seem to work with custom races, though. I tried to redefine the star system that my race uses, but it did nothing.
