Who Beta Tested This?

Who beta tested this? In less than a day of casual play, I have already found eight eignificant errors! All but two of those were already posted to this forum, which means that other people found them easily too. I don't understand how so many bugs could have been missed. Did they beta test this strictly with developers? Developers are notoriously lax about recognizing errors they will be responsible for fixing...

Another thing I would point out is a pseudo-bug is all of hte secondary races popping out of nowhere with 5000 credits each and no technology.

Would you have preffered when secondary popups with ALL your technologies like it was the case few version ago?

BTW, when you start a game, you have also 5000 BC and few techs. Why should it be different with others players

And like in GC1, minor are here to be exploited. Not to mention that they appears on previously PQ 0 planet

Matt,

Sorry, that you were not happy with my performance as a beta tester. In the future I will endeavour to be even more vocal on the forums and using the prescribed media provided by Stardock in beta reporting. Please continue to provide even more constructive critiques of my and others performance as we continue to report directly to Stardock the problems we have found using their prescribed reporting procedures.

Alright, well from what people have been saying, it sounds like the issues were logged but not resolved, so it sounds like a problem with meeting the release date rather than beta-testing.

I think the game is good. I find it a bit strange that the CTD on shipdesign (when the save design popup goes behind another window ) went unoticed. I got a CTD on my first design. Still, its a good game as far as I have played yet.

I'm sorry but that comment about the console is completely off. There are some technical bugs, sure, but what is really annoying is the huge number of game mechanics bugs. Math on a whole lot of bonuses not working (be it civ-wide or star base dependant), same with morale, excessive AI tech trading (yes, I call it a bug, it's completely destroying the whole system, especially the 3 attack types one), and so on and so forth. Those have absolutely nothing to do with the amount of systems you have to develop it for.

I thought and still think it's a great game but due to the excessive number of those kinds of bugs, it's no fun anymore... you get the distinct feeling that nothing is working as it should and that's very frustrating. Due to this I haven't played for three days now and I don't know if I will again anytime soon. Probably not until a lot of this stuff is fixed.
