Here is my picture

Walmart.com still has it listed as coming soon. I e-mailed Walmart's headquarters explaining to them how they are loosing sells by not having the product online and on the stores.

I find it odd indeed that Wal-Mart has the game in their brick-and-mortar stores, but not on their website.

Indeed, the Wal-Mart in my picture was the only place out of Target, Best Buy, Circuit City, and CompUSA that I checked that had it. I didn't check EB Games, but then, the EB Games in the closest mall is roughly the size of a dorm room, and thus not the greatest place for a photo-op.

Was my camera, I have an old 35 mm Cuban camera that was inventend in the 70's, the picture gets a little bit distorted. Don't you think?

I didn't know about this contest before I went to the store today (March 2nd) so I figured I would do the next best thing! Even if you don't count it since the copy left the store I hope you get a good laugh.

First post here. Got my picture here and a grand recounting of my perilous adventure to my local EB Games!

Things had been tough. Watching everyone on these forums have such a great time playing the game on release day. I had stopped of at EB on my way home from school, but alas they had not recieved any copies in at that point. It would be friday before I got another chance to get out to the store to look for the game. I would have to wait.

Days passed me by as I waited so very impatiently. Friday rolled around this time I decided to call EB ahead of time. I sat there with the phone thinking they have to have it by now right? Wrong. They still did not have it. Something must have gone wrong. What if the driver who was delivering the game got in an accident? What if he was caught smuggling drugs inside the game boxes? They might take my game and I would have to wait even longer! No, I was sure everything was alright...

After a long weekend without GC2 and another 2 days fighting off the flu I finally managed to get out to the store again. I could feel it in the air this time. They would have it! Or heads would roll...

I arrive at the store and confidantly head inside, smiling at the guy behind the counter, but waving him off when he asked if I needed any help. The PC games section is small enough that I should be able to find it easily enough anyway.



But wait! What's this? It's not here! It has to be here! "Store guy!" I shout. "What happened to GalCiv2? I was told it should be in by now!" The clerk looked alarmed. "You mean it's not there? How could it be that we don't have a PC game on our shelves? Oh the humanity! I'll just check the computer here..."



"It says that we do indeed have the game in the store!" The guy skillfully jumped the counter in his hurry to look for the game. He was just that dedicated to my finding GalCiv2. We both scan the shelves again looking for it. No luck. "I'll check the back room." he says and with a ding of the bell he disappears into the back. Moments later he returns without GalCiv2. "No luck there either." He looked so disappointed. But wait... what's that? Over there on the counter just waiting to be placed on the shelf...



My beloved GalCiv2! "Here it is!!!" we shout with joy at having found the object of my desire. I whip out my bank card and slam it down on the counter. "Put it on debit..."




Hope you enjoyed my little story as much as I enjoyed writing it. All of those pictures are indeed from the store and are not in any way shape or form just a bunch of hasitly cobbled together game boxes from my collection... *shifty eyes*

After searching for several minutes in the PC games section at best buy, I found it...

...I had heard rumors from across the electronic galaxy of such a thing existing, but had never actually believed them. 'Its too good to be true, I thought, but I was wrong.'

They had tried to keep it from me by hiding it on the bottom shelf, but it was to no avail...



At last, it was mine. (notice the jubiliant smile )

Naturally, I went straight home and did what was...well...'natural'...



Installed the game, and for the first time, attempted to conquer a galaxy! ...But failed miserably.
(Notice how the intense fixation on the screen has deformed my spine )


All in a days work...

I am happy now, I did my little effort to get the game on my Walmart and guess what yesterday my Walmart is carrying the Collectors edition!!!!!

I emailed Walmart headquarters and complained that they didn't have the game so guess what, they replied to me, 2 messages this is the first one

website walmart.com doesnot carry the product no matter that appears in
several stores, the store closes to me Saint Cloud Florida doesnot carry the

Even if by chance I'm not allowed, I still wanted to show everyone that I participated in the contest. I even had may dad hold the box for me while I take the shot. That was a cool experience.

Best Buy had 8 in stock, but none on display. I made them open the box and get me a copy, and then they finally put the other 7 copies out. I would have gotten it at Wal-Mart, but surprisingly there are none in this area of Delaware, and I wasn't about to pay sales tax in Elkton, MD! I could care less about the box and tech tree paper, but the extra goodies for the ship would be cool to offer on Stardock Central anyway. We all paid the same price after all. Love the game so far as well Good work, different from GC1, but very familiar, and fun.
