Load Saved Game Issues

I've noticed this everytime since loading a game. My influence boundaries are a lot smaller than they should be...then 2 turns later they all go back to normal. I think this has to do with the bonuses not being in place upon loading? The game treats the first turn as if it's the first turn of the game. This includes: Showing the first welcome message and ranking, showing the research page, showing my homeworld's terrain. Anyone else notice these things?

I think this was a problem in the first game, too. My bet is that influence expands gradually over a few turns, and the save system only stores the amount of influence generated and where it is, not how much area it currently covers.

I had a similar problem, but it was a little weirder. I decomissioned the wrong fleet, so I loaded an auto-save. Well from now on, for some reason, saves from that particular game take forever to load, and when they finally do load, my culture is darastically lower. Also the game has some how progressed several turns......like I said...weird.

For some reasons, the game is having problem to be saved at all.

It write saved and everything, but if you load, half of those saved (those I made manually) are corrupted and not working, which mean I have to relly on auto-save and such only...this is quite annoying.

My computer runs Auto-Assault and Everquest II without as much as a flinch, but when he load a saved game I created for GalCiv2, he freezes, completely. Dunno what you guys do, but obviously there is something wrong (it might help you to know that I tend to overused the save option, even if I seldom load...I really hate to redo anything...so I saved most of the turns...which is obviously to much for the game (I can saved twice in a turn if I did ton of diplomacy and doesn't want to risk to lose it and did the diplo after the first save).

Oh, well, issues with saved games are REALLY detering from someone interest in such a game, what is the point to play GalCiv2 if save game doesn't work? Tiny maps? No thanks.

I've never had a single issue with saved games. I suggest that you ensure that all of your drivers are up-to-date. Perhaps you should also check your system for computational errors with a tool like SiSoft Sandra, Prime95, or a memory tester as well. Galciv2 will push your system to the limits, and any issues with your hardware will show up under this kind of punishment.

Also you may want to run the game without any extra stuff running in the background such as anti-virus, etc. also in my experience some games do wierd things if you are connected online even when the game is'nt online, try disconnecting your modem if you have DSL.

It's happen to me too, around 25 - 30 min to load a game and this is everytime when I am loading a saved game, no matter which saved game ( quicsave, auto-save or named save ), and I don't know is this normal for this game but my saves are very big, I mean one savegame is around 17 - 18 MB and I am only in the middle of the game ( in comparison with my oldest saved game they are around 5 - 7 MB ) and what will happen when I save the game in the end, the file maybe will be 30 MB?

CPU - AMD 3200+
1GB DDR400
NVIDIA GeForce 6600
with latest drivers
no Internet connection

Ive yet to see a save game go above 10mb and that on gigantic with 9 AI, sounds for sure like you have something very odd going on.

I think I found the problem with the "long time loading", when you load an auto-save and then save the game and load that save it will take a very long time to load
In my previos game I was loaded ones an auto-save and after that it takes me 30 - 40 min to load, but now I start a new game and turnoff the auto-save and everything is OK
