BUG: Fleets change directions by themselves

After playing the game for a while (which is great btw), I have a problem with ships and fleet changing destination without my knowledge: when selecting another ship or fleet, it doesn't deselect the first one and I have ships and fleets going where I didn't tell them to go. One way I was able to replicate the problem is when I have fleets and/or ships stacked on top of each other and I decide to select another ship at another location and give it a new destination; the stacked ships that were shown to me before in the display get also redirected there too even if they are not selected. Another way to replicate this was also when you start a turn, you have a ship selected but you decide to move another instead; most of the time the first will will start to move to the new destination selected for the second ship.

I have also seen this sporadically. I have just gotten in the habit of making sure that when I leave the stacked ship screen, I have no ship/fleet highlighted.

I've had this happen to me fairly frequently

I also saw that sometimes one unit is selected and even I select another one, the first one stay selected and I have a hardtime deselecting it; most of the time I have to move the new one and select the first one and tell it to go where I wanted him to go (when I remember where it was). This problem seems worst when you have a lot of ships.

I hoped that it would be fixed in the 1.0X patch but it wasn't...

I find this frustrating because when you have a lot of fleets it does it often and makes the game almost unplayable. The worst is that I'm not sure how it happens but even if I make sure that nothing else is selected, some others fleets get the same destination as one i'm ordering and this without any warning....

Not being to play a game that I bought the way I like it ain't that fun....

I'm almost able to reproduce it; when you select a fleet that is on autopilot to give it new orders, another (not sure yet which one and why) get the same order. I do know that the other fleet is not even when looked at or click on in the same turn...so if you don't change your fleet that are under autopilot, my guess is that you won't see this bug.

would have been nice to see some acknowledgment that Stardock is actually looking into this....

Yes, this is quite a common bug, I've seen it countless times in my games. Hopefully it gets resolved soon.

I also opened a support ticket on this last weekend and never got any response on it except the ticket number....I'm seriously starting to wonder about the quality of service of Stardock...

Clearly by now, with no answer in over a week here or to a ticket for this bug, Stardock service is really poor and anyone should think twice about buying this game...

Hmm - maybe you should make the title of your post jive with the content. Maybe something like "Ships changing destinations when not selected" instead of "Selecting ships or fleets." It is more descriptive and may make your posting stand out more.

I'll try that and see; I saw many small bugs in this game but I'm not motivated to report them since they didn't even acknowledge this one....

While this bug has cause me to click clear space between each ship it is hardly what I would call "Game Critical."  Which is why it might take a while to fix.  Acknologment of the bug would be nice.  So Far there support seems to be atleast better than other companies.

Yup, this bug has forced me to reload many times - very annoying. I did notice that it only happens when fleets are involved. In games before I started using fleets, I never saw it. I believe if you turn on the follow ship movement option, you can at least see your incorrect fleet move (if your eye-brain connection are fast enough that is). Too bad it doesnt show the ship identifier in text instead of having every ship labled "autopilot". This bug seems simple and can't be that hard to fix. I bet they're working on it right now.

You might also try raising awareness of the issue in their IRC channel. Developers that frequent the channel may be able to tell you whether or not they are working on the issue. I was able to find out information about a bug I reported in the same fashion.

This bug occurs, because when you click from fleet to fleet or ship to ship, the first ship or fleet does not get deselected for some reason, and when you issue move orders to your second selected fleet, both fleets recieve the move orders.

Aha, and here I was thinking I had built too many MultiMedia Centers, causing my Fleet Captains brains to turn to mush.
I even tried fitting all Ship captains with tin-foil hats to counter the invisible alien brain-wave disruptor weapons.

i've reported this in the council, so i'm sure they're onto it. hopefully will be fixed in the new build (out soon). be patient. my investigations seem to also link it to right clicking the blue ship icon to launch, which was a feature added at the last minute. though i could be wrong. but yes, it is an annoying b.u.g. that one.
