No Middle Mouse button

How do I zoom

Just wondering, I use a touchpad and have no middle mouse button or wheel. Is there a hotkey or shortcut assignment I can make to zoom in and out of tactical? I know the number keys give me different views, but something between #4 and #5 would be perfect for me. Great game, thanks.

I think it would be a nice feature to have pressing both mouse buttons register as a "middle mouse" event. Or perhaps pressing ALT + left mouse and moving the mouse up and down could also register as zooming in and out would be neat too.

I agree. I have a mouse wheel, but it simply will not function as a middle mouse button. Perhaps the Arrow keys can be used to rotate camera views? These keys are currently unassigned in the game to any function (that I am aware of).

Yeah, hopefully they can assign hotkeys for the arrows. The both buttons together just won't do it. I bought the original GalCiv and I know these guys are top notch, so it's only a matter of time til they fix the problem. Unless it's already fixed and I just don't know the answer. Hope I get a reply soon though. I love the game, just feel a little myopic staring at it in such a close up frame. It's freaking me out!

Just go buy a new mouse with programmable buttons. I use the Logitech MX-310. Go to settings and just put button 4 or 5 to say "center button"....bingo....problem solved.

Well, I have other mouses (mice? whatever). But I like my touchpad. I have grown accustomed to it for the last seven years and I use it for everything else. Not being a programmer, it seems like such a simple fix, I would hope that I don't need to change my entire PC setup for this one problem.

Get a good quality logitech mouse (MX510 and up) and you'll never go back to a touchpad

Well, if you must know, my wife is the one who loves the mousepad so much. I'm used to all kinds of rigs from work, but this is the only computer she has used in the last seven years, and the mousepad is her baby. Therefore, for harmony's sake, I beg you to come up with a fix for this minor annoyance.
With this as the only exception so far, the game is a masterpiece! And you guys could not be a more shining example of the way a corporation should work. Your care in your product, the support of said product, and the overrall attitude of your team has been outstanding. Thanks for the great game. Now for just that one little thing.....

I have the same problem. I wish I had some way to control the camera other than the arrow buttons on the display. Buying a new mouse is not the answer. User-defined key assignments would be great, for more than just camera controls.

Are there any freeware tools that can simulate middle mouse clicks?

You can use the + and - keys to zoom in and out of tactical view.

The arrow keys move the selected ship.

Does the mousepad not let you use a mouse at the same time? My mother has both a wireless mouse and a WACOM tablet to use on her computer.
