where are the planet city lights?

where are the planet city lights?

i remember in one of the journals and game examples, it was said that planets would have city lights show on them where you've built stuff. I even saw a screenshot of this. I haven't seen any lights on my planets. Has anybody else had this problem or do your planets show city lights? Do you need to be a certain level of technological development for them? I have planets full of research labs, factories, markets etc, no tile is empty, but still no lights

I've played one full large galaxy game to completion so far, never saw any lights yet either. I've had many alot of high quality worlds with large populations, highest PQ 19, with population 23 billion.

I hope stardock is reading this because it would be sweet to have those lights working in the game as they should. One more layer to enjoy. Come on guys recognize that this is a bug.

Just wanted to add my observations to this as well. I see no city lights on worlds of any state of development/population/class on the main map. I have seen them on the planet detail screen however (double-click on planet -> Detail button). My card is a GeForce FX6200 w/256MB . I also want to point out Stardock's outstanding diligence in taking note of this kind of feedback, so no doubt they've seen this thread and will get to it when they get to it.

Now that you mention it... I haven't seen any lights either. But I'm running the game on a Commodore 64. (Not really, but my PC is a few years old).

Seems to be fairly random which planets get lights in my games. I have seen 20+ Billion person planets with no lights and 100 million planets with them. Dunno. It is mildly annoying since I tried to show off the lights to someone who I was trying to get to buy the game and the planet had none, so I had to quickly find one that did (he bought the game, if anyone was curious).

hehe another happy customer, no doubt he will enjoy it very much. i do agree that the light thing is annoying and buggy random.

bump for attention because I feel this bug is being ignored by stardock.

*sigh* the bug that keeps getting ignored

perhaps if you are at war, people turn off there lights for security reasons.

obviously you have not read all the previous posts...

Its a bug where people either get lights show up on random planets throughout the galaxy, even uninhabited ones, or they don't have lights show up anywhere no matter what the condition or state of your planets and game.

Please fix this bug stardock. Of course the first step is to actually acknowledge it exists, whoch has not been done yet..

I've never seen any lights on planets, no matter how large the pop or PQ. Never.

right now i'm having my doubts. They seem to be ignoring it for some reason. They are doing exactly what they said other companies do and they will never do, which is ignore that a bug exists or pretend it works fine. Just look at the one and only response i've gotten from stardock on this thread. That guy thinks it worlks, despite the evidence to the contrary. It may be a minor bug, but its still a bug nonetheless. More than that it was a feature they advertised so I don't think we're silly for wanting it to work as it should. Well I'm gonna continue to annoy them like a mosquito until they ackowledge and fix it. Its sad that we must resort to that to get a minor bug fixed.

I've only ever seen lights on one planet, a fully built up mid/late game planet with 5 billion pop.

No other planets, even with 20 billion people, have I seen them. Also NEVER on earth.

I think it only works on a few of the textures.

Also i've had a class 17 planet with 26 billion, no lights.

They are doing exactly what they said other companies do and they will never do, which is ignore that a bug exists or pretend it works fine.

No lights on planets is hardly a bug, christ. Talk about blowing it way out of proportion. Its eye candy for christs sake!

doesn't matter what it is. If something was advertised to be in the game and work a certain way but it doesn't, then thats a bug and should be fixed.

Its a bug, yes, but its a VERY VERY VERY minor bug. Probably far worse and more important issues at the moment for them to work on.

Ive seend them but it is very rare, almost all the time its the Yor that have the lights on the main map, but if i go to Details screen on the planets they do show.

i disagree as they are asking for suggestions for additions that people may have so its obvious they are done with the major bugs and this is a minor bug as i've said. It should get fixed. At the very least it would be nice to have it acknowledged. Thus far, they are ignoring it or pretending it works, which it does not. Lights appearing on some worlds of another race totally randomly (sometimes even uninhabited planets O.o) and hardly ever on any of your own regardless of pop and quality or development, is not working properly. This mosquito is gonna keep at it until they stop to scratch.
