Mission 4: Siege Whoah!

Dread Lords pwnd me

SPOILERS!

Did anyone beat this on Normal or higher?

I was rocking along, kickin bootay on all the usual suspects (Drengin, Yor), when this big red space squid shows up and drops 10 alien buttkickers on my planet. I drove them off, but they killed thousands! It was only after that I decided I'd better get moving, but too late. By the time I built some transports, a few heavy fighters and a couple of constructors (for starbases to extend my reach) there were squidleys all over the place!

Rather than suffer the pain I surrendered to my ally, the Altarans. I figured I'd rather lose gracefully than face death by seafood. Anyway, looks like we have to show the Torians some love now.

If someone has a winning strategy for Siege, please post it here!

Speed tech (or trade) to transports and fast engines, construct string of starbases while that happens. Alternately, speed-colonize the planet directly beneath the Yor homeworld, speed-tech, then buy transports on that world and fly em around the yor world up to the drengin planet.

It's a stretch though. Higher than normal, I don't EVEN know.

Thx! I found another well-attended post on this topic called 'Siege Mission'.

Anyone looking for tips check it out. There's several good strategies there, including one guy who says he took the Dreadlord's base.

Taking the DL base shouldn't be hard once you get to bigger hulls. But that's not the point of this mission, since according to the story line, the civs are new and noone got to the higher techs. I'm assuming towards the end of the campaign, humans will build huge ships to beat the evil DLs.
