Influence starbases working?

I note that when I build production starbases, the bonuses show up under "Starbase Bonuses" on the colony detail screen of any nearby planets. But no such bonus appears for influence starbases. My impression is that I don't seem to be getting the appropriate influence bonuses when I track my influence graph. Is there any way for me to tell whether the influence bonuses from starbases are being correctly applied? I wish it would show up in the planet details so I could be sure.

The bonus applies to your sector. In GalCiv 1 you could access info on each sector to see how much influence you have there. I think you had to right click on the sector but I dont remember and I havent done it in GalCiv2. Also you should be able to visually see your "borders". They should be resisting the enemy or moving out into open space. The bonus doesnt show up in planet details because they are not affecting the planet. The planets influence bonus is generated by its improvements.

You should also be able to see your influence points in the UP rise from building influence star bases also.

I don't think influence bases affect your planetary influence at all - they just "push" your influence "borders". They're independent influence producers. Place em appropriately, research and build improvements for them, and watch your influence "border" get "pushed" across the galaxy.

Basically planets *create* influence, that's the number in the planet screen.

Star bases don't create any, they just kind of enhance the influence from the planets in a given radius, so you won't see any difference in the planet's screen since the planet is still creating the same amount of influence.

If you place one next to an alien planet (and have a certain espionage level with them), you can click on that planet and look at the ratio of your influence versus their influence (the number in ( ) after the influence points)... you should see a difference there with and without an influence star base.
