[Bug] Compiled complete hardpoint mistake list WITH screenshots!

version 1.0X.010

I'm using windows XP pro, running the game full screen at 1024x768 resolution, same as my desktop which is set at 32 bit color.
Running gal civ 2 ver 1.0X.010 from stardock.

On the tiny human hull, one of the hardpoints on a little mini wing on the right side (looking from front) points down instead of outwards to space (the matching one on left side is properly aligned). Rotating this just rotates around a circle, doesn't make it point outwards (only forwards, backwards, up, and down).

Which reminds me, how about a rotate to make something point outwards ? I.e. rotate around the Z plane, not just the X/Y plane.

This screenshot shows what I mean, I've circled the two hardpoints for comparison.

See below for multiple people posting a number of hardpoint mistakes, including someone who took screenshots of all of them. I'm pretty sure that alltogether that should be the complete list of hardpoint mistakes.

I just found a total of 3 misaligned hardpoints on the terran tiny ship, default tiny at game start. I also found one on a Torian Large class, the one with the swept back wings I believe, and the Terran Supply ship (the elongated one) on the rear vertical pylon.

I'll try and get some screenshots later...

I'm starting to find lots of these, however, and in startling amounts too. I think ya'll ought to give the hulls a good once over and double check the hardpoints!

I found 1 or more additional on the tiny ship, but this was the only one I noticed that I couldn't rotate around to fix

If you guys could post come screenies, we'll try and get the orientation fixed for the next update (which sounds like it'll be Friday)

I'll try and re-find them tomorrow and post a few screenshots. My problem is that I don't have experience with higher than medium hulls, and there's no simple way to check the hulls of all races...

The first tiny model of the Altarian ship set has A LOT of misalligned ship hardpoints. The bad thing is, we can't possibly turn them in the right direction ourselves. For that we would need an axtra option to turn harpoints around their other axis (their base, so to speak).

There are also 2 hardpoints wrong on the cargo model the colony ship is derived from (human) On the aft downward section.

Don't worry, I think I've got 'em all.

I deserve one hell of a cookie though, it took a full 2 hours. You can get the archive here, whenever it's safe to delete gimme a holler. I used this method for naming: "ship hull - hull # - pic #". There are a few text files too, mainly stating "go back over this entire hull and check the points, mainly for "hide-and-seek".

Overall best/cleanest: Yor
Worst: Terran / Alterian (tie)

Now to replenish my spent caffine...

Holy crap nice work Citizen The Wicked Flea.
How did you examine all the hulls? Did you have games on all the races with all the hulls avail?
No. It was much harder than that. I started a game with the "Battle of the Gods" gameplay type. All techs are researched, so I only changed my ship appearance. It took 1 game per style, and roughly 2 hours.

Man, I'm still tired.

I just hope the staff saw this, I know Boogiebac did, and will start fixing that. I've found a few hardpoints on the JEWELRY messing up too!

My plan is to bump all my bug reports everytime they release a version that didn't fix whats in the report
I have half a dozen game bug reports now, and a bunch more on the way.

I have posted a compiled list of all hardpoint mistake I could find on all the ships.

And then your list as well.

On a related note, the Generic Jewelry "Flip Hardpoint Direction" needs some rethinking.

Hardpoints seem to have two directions: 1) the big arrow (forward) and 2) the small pointer (up).

The problem comes when you flip the hardpoint direction, it does two things: 1) flips forward to backward (good) and 2) flips up to down (bad). So when you want to make some bling, like a fin, point to the ship's rear instead of it's front, you get boned, because the bling gets flipped upside down as well.

Two hardpoint flippers are needed: 1) the one we have and 2) one that flips forward to backward, but leaves up alone.

@Citizen The Wicked Flea :
Didn't see you had you had screens. I went through your screens and my list and knocked out the ones you covered. Maybe you can spot these and add it to your screenshots.

PS must have gotten tired you skipped Terran Huge2 and called 3->2
I feel your pain, trust me I do.

Drengin
Large2
-2 on lower half of right rear 'pontoon'
Huge1
-2 on the front 'cheeks' seem odd
Huge2
-1 behind 'top fin'

Human
Tiny2
-1 right side, behind cockpit (submerged)
Tiny3
-1 right side of cockpit (missing?)
Large2
-1 bottom very back left of center
Huge1
-2 front section left side right before 'stem'
-3 rear section upper right edge of top ridge
Huge2
-1 under left side of 'bridge'

Torian
Small3
-1 left side of 'stem'

Yor
Huge1
-2 along left side of the upper long flat 'spike'
Cargo1
-1 missing? on spike
Huge3

I'll look and compare em both again soon and make sure mine are easy to understand

Yes, it gets very tiring to go all over the ships in game looking for these problems, and it didn't help that I started at 5am either (on a poor night's sleep. Curse Insomnia!). However, I don't think the problems should have been there in the first place. I am surprised that nothing came up in the betas on this, and I'm sure with the tools Stardock should have the fixes would take a few days tops.

Thanks guys, it helps to know were they are.

Ok that's too funny. I think I finished @ 8:30 that morning. But that isn't a ton earlier than I usually am up (night classes and late rising friends)

Around 5 was thinking.....you know someone should really make a list of where they're at. This might take a bit but I can do it. About 3/5 of the way my will started to wane. Especially when seeing ships not only covered in hardpoints but with inner structures and levels...that made my brain hurt.
"Ahh there's one, if I write it down I might forget where I was in my search...but if I continue looking I might forget how many I've seen. OW!"

Bumping because the original hardpoint mistake I found hasn't been fixed in 1.0X.010

I have not checked the others.
Most all hardpoint errors are still there.

And just for reference, I only checked the outer points, and not the inner structures. In fact, I just discovered the latter.

On the topic of hardpoint problems, I keep getting an error when removing a component from the long terran cargo hull. It's the hardpoint in the middle of the three on the back side. If i have a component on either hardpoint next to this one and try to remove the one in the middle, I get an error about it having something attached.

Umm.... Notice that this thread was started when 1.0X.10 was already out, so clearly it will make its way into a future patch.
1.0x.10 was released on 3/6 i thought, while the thread started on 2/22. Anyway, I'm sure they are doing lots of work to fix as many problems as fast as they can.

Flea that was a good thing you did

This is a very good thing.
