Battle animations and fleets

My first question is: are there only battle animations (i.e. cinematic view, not on the galactic map) when a fleet is involved, and never with individual ships? Also, do both have to be fleets or can it be one fleet attacking a single ship? (I've been waiting to see the battle animations for a while but I have been able to watch is a missile or a beam firing on the galactic map)

And here's a problem, for the life of me i can't seem to be able to make a fleet. I watched the video tutorial too.
Here's the situation: 2 small sized ships, both selected (ctrl + drag) and moved onto the same space. With them both selected the games tells me it would use 6 out of 10 logistics. I click "create fleet" and it either makes a fleet of 1 ship (one ship's name changes to fleet so and so while the other ship retains it's name and can be moved around independantly like before), or a fleet of no ships that i can't get rid of.

You can see movies when you select it from options. Battle speed = Full battles.

About the fleet thing, I alrdy came across same kinda bug. I have had it once, after that its been working propertly.
My only gripe about the fleets is that you cannot seem to be able to upgrade ships while in fleet mode. I have do disband the fleet, move a vessel to the next parsect and then press Upgrade. Seems bit too much trouble to me

You can also configure so that you se the battle if 1 ship versus 1 fleet is happening.

There are several options for when the "Combat Viewer" will appear. These are in the Options menu, in the "Interface" section.

If you would like to see the combat viewer for any battle, use the "Full Battles" option and also check "Full Fleet Battles" and uncheck "Show Full Fleet Battles Only When Both Sides are Fleets"

If you would like to just see the battles for any battle involving a fleet, change your Battle type to "Normal Battles", check "Full Fleet Battles", and uncheck "Show Full Fleet Battles Only When Both Sides are Fleets"

If you would like to see the battles only when a fleet is engaging another fleet, set battle type to "Normal Battles"," and check both "Full Fleet Battles" and "Show Full Fleet Battles Only When Both Sides are Fleets"

You can also try other combinations of these options to find one that suits you.

Samot thats wierd it worked for me last night i had fleets of small ships i upgraded them and it asked me if i wanted to upgrade them across all my fleets i said yes...course the own side was all my fleets were paralyzed.

However i tried the same thing with a Cargo Hull class ship and it didnt work...
