Viewing combat in cinematic mode

Please help, I can't see the groovy battles.

I know the fix for this is probably something obvious, but my space battles look like a jazzed up GalCiv I style battle. How do I view them in the way cool cinematic mode promised by the pre-release vids?

In the options make sure you have full battles enabled and the proper checkboxes checked to see battles.

Also, make sure you're organizing your ships into fleets before you fight...the one-on-one fleet battles are nothing compared to the big fleet battles with multiple ships.

Actually I noticed this too that once and a while, (maybe 2x in three games) it would show the old style. Every other time it would show the full battle though which is quite cool.

That maybe cuz that was a 1 ship vs enemy fleet. You need the setting like this:

I always use free cam mode, cinematic sucks donkey balls.
