Download question

Quick question on downloading.
I purchased this game online instead of getting it from the store. My thinking was I will go to a friend's house, download all the files and burn it to a disc and take it back to my house since I only have dialup as cable is not avilable in my area.
With that said I copied the files from the disc but no luck there so am going to have to redownload to get it to work.
My question is since I only have about a 5 and a half hr window before my isp cuts me off, I will lose my connection so once I reconnect and initiate the download through stardock again will it start me off where it stopped or will it be from scratch?
Just want to know mainly as my only other option is wait for the cd to arrive since I bought the download/cd package. Just wondering if downloading it is truely a waste of tiem for me
