When I started this game way back in late 2006 (yes I don't get much time to play!) DL 1.4 was out but I stayed with DL 1.2 for this game because I wanted to see the difference between Masochistic (my previous 1.2 game) and Suicidal, without the changes to morale and economy in DL 1.2->1.4. Going from a gigantic map with 283 planets to one with 475 planets, probably made a bigger difference in that the colony rush was much longer (with me controlling 11% and the 9 AIs 89%, better than my goal of 10%).

I hope to have my maso/large wrapped up this weekend at the latest. What a difference finishing a game in a week as opposed to almost two months for a gigantic  .

Make that three days   . Wasn't much for score(36750), but was just a fun little romp. I basically colonized, built and destoyed in less than two years.

I don't think the score will be too good as it's not an all abundant - My first Cripp/gig so I bottled it and went for tight clusters - Still around 350 Planets though with huge gaps of open space.

Wiping out the Iconians at the mo then just the Thalans and the Drengin(saved them 'till last Hehehehe!!) to distroy.

A little note to those who may be lurking and are not a member of any empire...

We tend to not be recruitment happy and sometimes people think that means we aren't welcome to new membership or that you may have to be invited or something. This isn't true.

Also, consider registering over at The Galactic Core. It is empire neutral, and several empires have homes over there (so even if you aren't a Galactic Diplomat, it's worth your time to drop in). If you let them know you are a Galactic Diplomat, they will grant you access to our private areas.

I can testify that the Galactic Diplomats are very welcoming to newcomers. I bought the game 3 weeks ago and joined the Diplomats a week ago today. It was the best call I could have made for improving my skill at GalCiv2.

Seven of the top eleven metaverse slots are currently held by Galactic Diplomats. These players are masters. They are also very nice guys and are patient and generous with their advice. I'm currently mopping up a suicidal, large map DA game with relative ease. There is no way I could have done that without what I've learned from them over the last week. If you are looking to improve, joining the Diplomats is a very good move. Hope to see you at the Galactic Core

Good Morning Diplomats. Finally got a top 25 medal   . Now to see how long I can hold it.

I seem to be having difficulty accessing the Core. This is the second day running that I've had this difficulty. I had no issue last night at home so it could be something new at work blocking the domain but I think this is unlikely.

For example in the above posts I see the sig banners pointing to altmeta.kryofx.com but the sig banners pointing to anything.thegalacticcore.com are not displayed. Also I get a file not found 404 when trying to access www.thegalacticcore.com with either IE6 or FF 2.0. Does anyone else have this issue or is it just me?

No problems here with FF 2.0, Mumble.

Darn, must be work then. I guess that will limt my Core access to the evenings. Oh well.

Yes indeed. She is our first. Due date is the 27th, but I wouldn't be surprised to see her show up a bit early.

As a general rule, first ones are usually late, second ones early.
Unless of course the medical fraternity intervene for their own convenience.

We have an induction date if she runs late already, so a day or two early would be ideal. My wife has had gestational diabetes, so they don't want her running late at all.
