Download problem

Movies file extract error

Hi,

I purchased GC2 today, i downloaded without any problem the game files, the tutorial and the multimedia folder, but each time i want to download the movies, i meet an extract error at a random percentage of the download. I have try to change the extract folder and the server but without any result. for the moment i have restarted another time in a new folder and with another server (very slow, but i guess that the game meet a certain sucess)... Any help to understand how to aboid this problem will be helpful.

Kelm: I would suggest going to Tools->Settings under the Internet section and changing the download server, but then click Refresh XML Data.

Before you attempt redownloading, I would suggest running this file: sd.stardock.com/mike/apps/clear_cache_sdc.bat

Im really looking forward to this game but I cant seem to download it. I downloaded the star dock program, entered all the serial numbers but now I cant find the download part... please help.

Just trying to download the game onto my laptop while I wait for the release. Base game installed no problem, however the multimedia and the tutorials give me a validation failure. Any ideas?

EDIT: Nevermind...seems your updating stuff....

it should be under games with a little Icon called galactic civ 2 if you press the + pic it will have all the other files you can download. But if you cant see any icon (this happened to me ) either dl stardock again and reinstall it (I did this and it worked ) or the more easier way what should work is to go on stardock, make sure you got the latest version go on tools>Settings>Internet then press the refresh Application XML data and it should show up then. (otherwords what milksama said)


only 3 more hours to go before we can finish the download, hope the servers dont crash then

yeh you need to keep reinstalling stardock to get the icon to show up had to do it 3 times.

After choosing the "Refresh XML Data option", the movies folder does not appear any more in the purchased software / GC2 window. So i uninstalled the previous file downloaded, and then uninstalled SC. I reinstalled SC and i just restarted to download each files needed. Wait and see for now. If i meet a new prob i let you know, but thanks anyway for your help, and for this game... (i like a lot the first GC). Just a little disappointed not to be able to play this evening.

Kelm: I would've actually suggested reentering your email and password under Tools->Edit Stardock.net account and then reopening SDC.

I'm sorry you were not able to enjoy the game sooner. I'll be checking here and in the support email for any additional questions.

Just a side note, there's a live chat available through Stardock Central ( stardock.com/sdnet_login.asp ) where you should be able to get more instant attention   Just type '  /join #galciv  ' (without the ' ') once you join.

My download of the game update is sticking on the GC2launch.exe file. Should I leave it alone or shut down stardock and start again?

I get the same error as above, except mine cuts out for all the files ie Multi, movies and tutorials in the middle of download with a CRC error, this is very frustrating
