Death of a species doesn't instill realism

Hello everyone. I was reading the "Game Example: Altarian Downfall" post and I realized that there was something wrong with the game. Each time a race becomes lost the message received is exactly the same. "Our war is lost. Before we are completely obliterated, we have decided that we shall surrender our remaining worlds to the _______ (fill in the blank) empire. Our fate is in their hands"
With so much work done with the speech of the game this sorta surprised me. I would have thought it would have been a bit more of a personalized message of defeat, not some bland universal message for every race. I know it’s a small thing but since we all know that they are going to improve the game past the launch date, I was hoping that they may catch their mistake here and correct it for us.

The Drath/Torian messages were the same, but the Yor surrender had different text. So probably just a coincidence (though I've no clue how many surrender messages there actually are).

If they lose their world through culture, they'll say they decided to join XX who they feel is culturally superior.

I agree. Perhaps there are already multiple species-specific defeat messages that we don't know. But if not it would be nice to have them.

Oh yeah, if you're at war with them, sometimes they'll laugh at you and saying they're surrendering to XX to basically spite you.

From GC2_Conversations.xml, there are 4 surrender text types, based on surrender to player or non-player and a peaceful surrender v. "longwar". Each surrender text types varies by morality (i believe the surrendering race's morality). Surrender to player after long war varies also varies by race (drengin surrendering to humans and anyone else(?) surrendering to humans have special text).

with or without the variances, I will still be glad to get my hands on the game! It would be nice though to see more than one variance to each moral, races, situation though. I know, I know.. I want my cake and eat it too. But seriously, how many times can you play the game before the same defeat messages arise again and again. All I am saying is that there should be more messages for every variable than just one. Just my opinion so dont hammer me too hard lol

God I hope that doesn't happen too often that used to annoy the hell out of me in galciv1. Imagine at the end of WW2 if the nazi's surrendered to the Mongolians! As if it would ever happen

I share your concern, we'll see about that in the release version.
