Ok so anyway. I was reading it and at the end when you no all is lost.. and you are just waiting to go down in a blaze of glory.. it is at that point that I like to throw in some cheats.. make an amazing comeback, and stick it to the guy that was beating me

So it just made me wonder... will there be cheats for the game?

These are the ones I've figured out so far:

Ctrl+M ... Adds money
Ctrl+R ... Completes current research project
Ctrl+B ... Adds a battleship with your affiliation to the map immediately.

now the empire will crush all those who stand in the way of us! (finds "GOD MODE")

Seems a lot of the old codes from GalCiv work. Ctrl+P will increase the class of whatever planet you have selected by 1, etc. Wasn't aware of any god mode code, though.

Um, one caveat...when you're going to hit Ctrl-M to give yourself $1000 bc, try not to hit Ctrl-N, which generates a new galaxy and starts the game over

What are all the CTL functions? Is there a list anywhere???

Chris.

Ctrl + C still copies ships, Ctrl + A still upgrades ship quality, hp, and movement.

Here is all I know.

Ctrl +

V- United planets meeting

B- Adds battleship

C- Clones selected ship

0-9(NOT on Num Pad)- Hail's major races

J- Completes social projects

R- Research current tech (Hold Shift for ALL techs)

H- Heals selected ship

T- Teleports selected ship to cursor

L- Assigns remaining planets to major races

S- Saves

W-???( 1st time I hit it, it deleted all my ships. 2nd time, it crashed the game)

A- Upgrades selected ship

M- Adds 10,000bc

N- Restart on a new map with new race

P- Adds 1 to planet class

I have entered the command line parameter cheat but is there anything else i need to do to enable the cheat mode?

I actually do have a question. It's both in reference to 'cheats' and editing the races xml. Apparantly, even though the xml is edited to say give me 900 customization points, the game does not recognize this. Any help and or cheat to let me get more customization points?

(btw, I've tried memory editing tools like Cheat Omatic and ArtMoney, both have not worked.)

The Ctrl-P key adds +1 to planet class in name only. It doesn't give you any extra tiles to work with. I tried it both on worlds that I had already colonised, and on worlds that I colonised after using the cheat.

Far as I know, ngcsubutterbar, there's no way to add customisation points. Changing around the .xml doesn't seem to affect the available points in-game.

I added the command line like in the example however I can't get the cheats to work, is there something else we need to do? Thanks

Hey, is there a way for me to change the amount of the starting $$$$ ?? like modiflication? which file should I modifly?
as to customization points, dont add them to your race, modify the ability bonuses file and set all the abilities cost to 0. Now you dont need the extra custom points

Don't forget

#5 You can play a quasi-Hot seat game with someone by loading up the game as GalCiv2 cheat (use the cheat parameter). Then when you set up the game, you let the AI play out a few turns and then have your friend pick one of the races they want to control. Have them select that unit and hit CTRL-SHIFT-Z.

I'm interested to see if there are any other quirky, debuggy-type "cheats" included. Say, that mode where you can watch the AI duke it out.

Make sure its a GalCiv2 short cut, and NOT the lancher.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Got some more cheats

Hold Ctrl AND Shift

D- Spawns a minor race into the galaxy.

T- Hails...Yourself! WTH lmao

J- Completes OTHER races projects?? Did on me atleast

X- Quart. Report

B- Spawns diffrent star bases ( Even mining Star Bases )

M- Change Alignment Screen, still cost money to change, but atleast you can now change it when you want to.

Thats all I got for now.

Is there a cheat code that gives your race over to AI control? I'd be interested in watching an all AI game play out.

hmmm...i can onlysee galciv2 in my start up window so i made a shortcut in desktop but i add cheat but still no joy:(
any advice?

If you copied the shortcut from the game folder, you have to use the right one. There is one icon titled GC2 launch and another titled GalCiv2. Make sure you use GalCiv2 for the shortcut.

This seems to add almost all of the tech tree, except for the miniaturization part when I tried it.

I added the 2nd shortcut with the cheat code so I can enter either one. When I first played my
original game, I gave the AI players way too much power (Intelligence thru fool). So I ended up
only getting 4 planets when the strongest AI player now controls about 75% of the map. I saved it
and let it sit until I got the cheat shortcut installed. Now I can hold my own against him. All the later
games I started were much more balanced so I don't use the cheat shortcut, just the reg. one installed
by the game....
