Tactical combat in expansion?

Tactical combat in expansion?

Will there be a possibility to control the fleets in battle in the expansion! if not take that into consideration because there is a "few" out there who want that to be an option

One of the best things about MOO was the Tactical Combat. There are people to this day, using old computers, that are still playing the original Master of Orion.

When MOO2 came out with multiplayer capabilities I jumped at the chance of playing against a human with the tactical combat. The multiplayer was just too damn slow.

MOO3 ruined all of that and I quickly shelved that game soon after trying it - that game was all about having the computer contol everything and all you had to do was click and click and click (boring).

I am still looking for the next generation of MOO and I was hoping this game was it (I don't own it yet). Multiplayer would be great but turn based play does slow things down horribly especially when micro-managing. I think they could easily add an option to turn on tactical combat (ala MOO2) or keep it off as it is right now. Tactical combat would be very fun in a small game but in the huge ones you would be stuck there forever.

the win version of moo2, i.e. orion95.exe was laggy like hell (up to minutes between turns). And you prolly tried this version.

But the dos version, i.e. orion2.exe is pretty fast and it works even under XP! Take into account that moo2 was programmed for Dos. They just made it compatible with win95 and somehow the MP-part of orion95.exe is totally unplayable. (And BTW 99% of all moo-cds contain both versions.)

Using the dos-version the time between 2 turns in a 1v1 is usually less than 1 second (even intercontinental when you have dsl! See kali setup). We play with up to 5players (different continents).

There is even a new fanpatch for the dos-version: LordBrazens 1.4patch project. It fixed some bugs and adds some mod OPTIONS.

Details MP-setup kali (there is still a core of round about 30 players):

For tactical space combat, Try out Nexus, or X3. I got em both, and found them really, really beautiful but boring. As far as tactical combat in SE4 or MOO2, I thought it was a way of cheating a better armed AI. I stopped using it. Stardock has the right idea here.

The only thing that makes me stop from buying GalCiv2 is that it has no tactical combat. Want to know why? Because if I have Tactical Combat my war becomes the personal war, instead of abstract startegy war.

For me it's really cool to destroy the opponents personally in Tactical Combat, instead of watching it falls down by my forces from the Galaxy view.

Also I'd like to choose for myself of using or not the Tactical Combat. I don't want somebody deside it for my, I want to choose it personally. I think, if it would ugly I will always could turn it off, but I want to have this way.

But, I hope the StarDock will be good this way as it always are, so I would like Tactical Combat. Of cause, if it will be created.

I think it should be, so I said YES for Tactical Combat.

So could somebody tell me, does the Tactical Combat ever planned, as I hope so?
