Macintosh...ever?

hi Frogboy,

Though I have a PC, I tend to use my Macintosh more and more, and my next laptop will surely be a Mac. Does Stardock ever plan to release GalCiv II or future games on the Macintosh? I realize much of your revenue is tied up in Windows development, but I believe there is a large, untapped market of Mac users who are into strategy games.

Very unlikely, as are potential linux ports. GC2 is based on Microsoft's DirectX and Stardock's own DesktopX, both windows-only technologies.

On the other hand there should be a version of Wine available for Mac soon enough (if you get one of the new Intel based models), and that has a decent chance of being able to play GalCiv.

Since Brad keeps saying in "his" podcast that he doesn't have anything against Macs, who knows?

Personally Microsoft Should have crushed Macintosh years ago Windows is just better PCs are more modern more Modable...Everything plus, every Modern game now REQUIRES a PC Why can't everyone accept that macintosh is dead from Computers? Though they still can use the blasted Ipods for a while until Microsoft does the same.

You look to be confusing "Microsoft" and "PC". Let alone the fact that Windows isn't really better than OS X (besides running on non-proprietary hardware, which is its huge selling point). Macs are still perfectly reasonable for many people because the operating system is more stable, it has a nice GUI, it's UNIX-based, it's secure -- due partly to being UNIXy and partly on its unpopularity.

No more time am I wasting on this, it's a personal preference thing and the Mac user's preference is perfectly reasonable.

OSX is more stable then XP is (depending on the hardware XP is running on) because OSX is running on a "limited" set of hardware. So proprietary does have benefits.

In other words Apple only need to provide / develop drivers for a few models of Mac PC's while MS must support trillions of different hardware setups and has the "problem" of many third party hardware drivers (Signed drivers are their for a reason).

As for security. Yes, OSX has plenty of security holes, maybe not as many as XP (Could be wrong here tho) but as OSX has only a small % of the market nobody misuses these. Virus/spyware/etc coders are attention seekers. (IMO)
