I watched the video, and putting aside graphic infancy (I know this is a showcase, do not confuse my argument)

My 1st opinion is that they do not know what made TA great (even though they contributed to TA)
My 2nd opinion: I see mechanical problems from Spore, Metal Fatigue and Earth 2150 without even putting any effort into it.

Is it early and they can fix it? Sure, but they are already on the path....

What path?
I already see things that are going to make this a meh RTS once it is put together with nice graphics.

No kick for you...

What do you think made TA great then?

Don't really like Supreme Commander 2 so don't think I'll like this.

I'll try a demo of it though.

Campaigner- Sup Com2 sucked... This is more like Sup Com1 (first one was fun also good expansion) and TA and everything you ever wanted in it and then some. (brain melts)

People keep saying that but they don't say why.

I've seen videos and read about Supreme Commander and I really don't think I'd like that either. So much focus on economy and macromanagement and it's also largescale.

I prefer micromanagement and small maps like Company of Heroes & Dawn of War offers.

Camp- Well at least we got Company of Heros 2 to look forward to! Actually that last line explains is so ya this might not be your cup of tea. Also have you tried Men of War? You might like that.

DONATE MONEY I WANT THIS DAMN IT!

While I enjoy RTS games I wasn't really looking forward to this game because it seemed very simplistic. The galactic war part might change my mind though...

I like the sound of lava and metal planets more than galactic war, to be honest.

and yet we do not know what the stretch goal 5 is, and the total pledges have passed the gas stage, but only seven days to go.

wow!

Why Chris Taylor is not making these kind of games anymore? I'd love to play Supreme Commander 3 (based on 1, not 2).

edit: Brad, when you meet him tell him that I want new SC, please.

He is doing some other more mainstream things now in hopes of generating more income than they did off of Demigod. They put Kings and Castles (sort of a midevil Supcom) on indefinite hold.

Isn't that what Planetary Annihilation esentially is? The team has lead programmer of SupCom and one of the art designers and the game is already promised to work much like SupCom except with much more cool.

This one was like an insta-pledge for me.

As much as I love the idea of Planetary Annihilation, this is not a Supreme Commander 3. Something different, maybe even better, but different. More like spiritual successor. I'd like to play both.

Quoting BOTA99,

Since lead programmer of SC is no more with Chris Taylor (as KlaxXxon pointed) I think we can forget about SC3 and Kings and Castles. Age of Empires Online won. What a shame.

it looks more like total annialation 2 than supreme commander 3 to me, but I STILL enjoy the occasional battle in TA.

Total Annihilation 2 isn't a bad thing. Total Annihilation and StarCraft were my gateway drugs to RTS gaming, and StarCraft has ended up as utter crap. I'll gladly buy Uber Entertainment's finished product when its released.

I am still waiting for a close match to the total annihialation in scope and gameplay,

and it looks like the lava and metal will be happening also (only 50k to go)
