Hi, new here.
Just got the game on Steam and have a question about the Metaverse.
When I try to make a character, it askes me for a number, is that the same number i regestered the game with?

It might be. I'm not sure I'm familiar with that situation.
But my suggestion would be to copy and paste the serial # from your Steam receipt and see if that works.
I'l be around if you need any help.

That worked, and now I have a character and an empire on the Metaverse.
few more questions though.
1.) where do I find other empires to see if I would want to join an established empire rather then the one I just made because I could?
2.) I decided to play a metaverse game right after setting up to see what that was like, (just a simple me vs. 1 CPU, still learning the ins and outs. 2nd day after perchase) and for some reason, the game gave me an instant win.
I know thats not suppose to happen, did I trigger a bug somewhere?
I suppose it's possible to get a quick influence victory against only one opponent although I would think you would have to colonize a bit for that to happen so I doubt it would be "instant".
You can disable various win conditions when you setup the game. Various victory types have different score multipliers and so a lot of folks disable all but galactic conquest victory conditions since that gives the most points for victory.
So a little more detail might be helpful also giving yourself more than 1 opponent might eliminate this issue as well.
There is a game choice that gives all techs at the start of the game, I'm not familiar with it's name, but if this was selected and Tech victory was also selected as a winning condition, might this result in an instant win?
I myself never did mess with any of those settings so others may shed more light.
