The Political Adds in my State.

They are getting intense.

Experts have said Maryland has the nastiest add in the country. I agree. I don't know how to vote for and I find it harder to care, even after seeing the debates and listening to C-SPAN for a bit.

There is a irony to all this, besides the irony in the adds. Its the results of elections in my proud democratic state of Maryland. We had a Republican Governor for two terms who was called Bob Er-something, who had nothing really noticeable to the regular Jo smoe, apart from the war(s), life went on. Then came the Mayor of Baltimore, now Governor of Maryland, running for senator of Maryland, and inevitably the presidency, Martin O'Malley for two terms. (I once was able to run out into a parade with him and shook his hand as mayor, this was after 9-11 as a child. Take that as you will.) For two terms with him things were ok, apart from the recession, life went on. I expect life to be 90% the same regardless of the winning candidate, its not politicians actually pass alot of working bills!

Still there is alot more to this election and many others than can be said. Or put into a single add.

The ads in NC have been pretty nasty as well, not as bad as the Jesse Helms era, but pretty bad. NC is bad because the Dems can bash as hard as the Republicans can because the NC Legislature is every bit as disliked as Obama is.

Yea, the ads in my state are getting ridiculous too.

What I seen a lot of this election cycle is one politician accusing his/her opponent of something, and then the next day the opponent responds to the ad with an ad of their own calling the first ad a bunch of lies.

Which makes it very clear (if it wasn't already clear), that political ads are meaningless, and have to be taken with less than a grain of salt.

They just become background noise that you ignore.

What's really pathetic is that these ads are really aimed at the small group of independents that ultimately decide the election (at least in purple states). All that money to influence a tiny percent of the population. It's a joke.
