Maximum number of Opponents?

I've been playing GC 2 with twilight of arnor installed for quite some time now but I can't helped feeling a lack of realism to it, or any feeling of achievement if I had won a scenario. Then I thought to myself, perhaps if I were to face a greater number of opponents in one map, perhaps I'll learn to enjoy each game.

So my question is this, is there anyway to edit the base value or code that could increase the number of opponents in one game. Currently we're locked to only being able to select 9 major races as opponents, I'm thinking if there's anyway to increase that?

As far as I know, there really isn't. You can cheat to make the DreadLords appear a bit earlier, but it sounds to me like you either need to implement one of the two extensive mods that improve balance, or just need to ramp the difficulty up. What may also help is setting yourself a target to beat: i.e. conquer the map in 5 years, winning without firing a shot, etc.

You can also play around with galaxy size and other settings to find something that is more to your liking. (i.e. a small map gets crowded very quickly!)

Or you could creat custom races and then have them as opponents like I do?
