I have researched this like crazy, but all forum or tutorial-derived info has not helped me.  I am trying to import my own custom made mesh into Galciv, and am about to pull out my hair.

Currently it's merely a test, and its already in .x format as exported from the new blender 2.62 (they claim the .x exporter fixed issues that plagued earlier versions.)  I am using TOTA expansion, and all folder entries are under \twilight

I am making a fighter model, so I am entering it as a tiny hull.  First, I have tried to import it using the ship component editor, then manually editing the GC2Types.xml file, and I've tried naming the files anyhting from a custom name like "DCFtrTest1.x" to formula ones such as "S4_DCTiny_0.x" or "s66_tiny_0.x"

But no matter what I have tried, the model NEVER shows up in the shipyard.  Neither is there an icon from the .png file I used to preview the model.  (The entry where you select what model to add to your ships.)

I have no other symptoms of the problem.  The game just seems to ignore my efforts.  To make things more confusing, I HAVE added new weapons successfully (but without importing any new models or effects.)

Any ideas or direct advice would be greatly appreciated.

Be sure to place the <hull>{INFO}<hull> in with the others( just use notepad and the find function), i recently had this issue where it refused to load my Fleet Command module because it was a <atlas> and in the wrong spot in the file.

GCII is picky about organization of some files...
