Planning on an upgrade from Win7 32 bit to 64 bit. Any pitfalls/issues I should be aware of?

I've been playing GCII since getting this newer (Win7) computer up and running. Used to play it on an older computer (XP).

After installing GCII on the Win7 computer and updating to TWotA, all updates were handled by Stardock and later Impulse. No problems. It treated it as a new install.

With the planned upgrade to Win7 64 bit, and the game is already installed, should I look for anything in particular as issues? Or should I just uninstall, make the upgrade, and then re-install the game?

You don't need to even run the uninstaller.  Gamestop (it's the game updating application formerly known as Impulse) can detect your existing installation of GC2 (I'm assuming you installed somewhere other than the C drive) and update it.  However you will likely run into problems when you try and play Metaverse, there's a thread which deals with that.

why spend $200 on OS upgrade.  I had to cause my hard drive crashed and all I had was the factory OS which don't come with disks

the only other reason if the software I want needs it most likely a Microsoft game

I wish Microsoft would have some competition.  like where did Word Perfect go.  So we don't have to spend $200 on OS or productive software suite.  It takes up as much space as a video game.  I say that software should have a value of $25 a GIG of hard drive space or so aren't monopolies illegal.  It don't take up no 10 gigs of hard drive space but they charge like it does. I bought Works instead at Amazon.  but in store only Office and windows 7 are available sounds like a monopoly to me.  there is nothing fancy or heavy computer usage for Excel or Word.  Anyone who buys one is basically getting ripped off.  about the only difference is has flasher graphics I don't need 20 million columns or rows either.  I temporally worked for a company and they used Excel as a Database ran fairly sluggish

I am not buying their $80 keyboard or mice either I bought a $15 Logitech one

General - No money spent. Got it free from a friend. Otherwise, I'd leave it as is.
