Crash upon signing in from Steam Ultimate Edition

Alright, I've browsed the forums and the internet for the past few days trying to fix this problem, but cannot find a solution which works. Error is as stated, crash to desktop after entering (correct) login details for metaverse. I am using the steam release of gc2:ultimate on vista 64bit.

Let me know if there's any other info I can provide.

There was some discussion about something similar to this a little while back. A workaround was given here...

I'm not sure of that's the same problem and I haven't experienced any problems like it as of yet, so I have no direct experience.

Stardock will certainly help, but the workaround might be handy if you wind up waiting a while for a reply.
