Question about Mod and Compatibility with Recent Updates

So I recently saw the video TEC's Lament and was floored by just how amazingly pretty the game looked. I also noticed how the game lagged up when he was playing it, but I have a i5-2400 along with a Radeon 6870 so I think that I can run the program... especially since the mod looks to be 2 years old.

My question comes to whether the most recent update is compatible and what not, or will I have to choose an older update to be able to use this graphic mod? Barring this, I was wondering what graphic mods (i.e. is there a more recent graphic mod that I missed in my search) you guys used as well as what sort of setup you guys have.

As always, thank you for your responses.

Ah yes, that guy did some cool Sins videos. I still make sure to show them to people I try to convince to get Sins.

While Bailknight himself is no longer around, he released his work to the public so many mods like Distant Stars (I think) have it (or an expanded version of it called Volumetric Explosions), or parts of it as an optional add on (I.e. Star Wars: Requiem).

There is also the total effects graphics mod currently in development which includes some of bailknights particles.

Distant Stars does have it.

Total Effects, started off with it included but has mostly done away with it in favor of new content.

 

Both will run with the current build of Diplomacy.

Ah! Good to see there are some good graphic mods around, seeing TEC's Lament was actually what got me wanting to play it again. I was curious if you guys were running it and how these mods perform on your rigs.

Having development input on both DS and TE, I can say both work just fine.  ;]
