can't download Dark Avatar (or patch) from Impulse

Hi all i run windows 7 (32bit).

A year ago I bought dark avatar (DA) and twilight (TL) via download, I have a hard copy of Gal Civ II Limited edition (Europe)

 

Today i reinstalled the original Gal Civ II from CD and updated the game via Impulse.

Then I copied DA and TL from an old hard drive to my new PC . After getting a new reg key I could install DA but impulse didn't recognize it.

I uninstalled and retried. Then Impulse recognized my install of DA, suggested the new patch for download which gave a new error: file not found..

 

If I want to install DA from Impulse (not from my old HD) I get an Error; file not found. My old DA backup is version 1.80g.

So I can play my DA 1.80g but I can't play twilight because appearantly I need an update from Impulse which I can't get because Impulse gives me errors...

 

*Edit: I did install the game to my D: drive instead of the standard C: drive, can this be an issue?

Looks like there was some server trouble preventing the DA download. Please give it a go now.

tnx. Problem solved.

 

 

I have however a new problem. Twilight of Arnor crashes on startup while GalCivII: dread lords and Dark Avatar work fine...?

According to impulse it installed and patched correctly.

Please open your debug.err file in notepad, and copy/paste the contents into a post here. This will give us some technical information that can help troubleshoot your problem. The location you'll find the debug.err in varies depending on which game you're playing:

Dread Lords: My Documents\My Games\GalCiv2
Dark Avatar: My Documents\My Games\GC2DarkAvatar
Twilight of the Arnor: My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor

Older versions may store the debug directly in the location the game is installed at.

Be sure to copy the debug immediately after the error occurs; if you start the game again, the debug will be erased and recreated for the new session.

Go to My Documents\My Games\GC2TwilightArnor, open the file prefs.ini, and make the following changes:

Change
DisplayWidth=1024
DisplayHeight=768
ColorDepth=32
Fullscreen=1

To
DisplayWidth=(Your desktop width)
DisplayHeight=(Your desktop height)
ColorDepth=32
Fullscreen=0

Then save the file and start the game.

I did exactly as told but the crash remains. I get a windows 7 message saying that the game has stopped working. Then win7 looks for a solution but it can't find one..

In that case try updating your video drivers--you're still using ones from before the retail release of Win7. If it still will not work after that, please open a ticket with support by emailing support@stardock.com.
