Enough of this "let's all get along" malarky. We're here to conquer!

GIT-R-Done!

H ey, remember how Ben Hogan discovered the secret of golf? Well, I've just discovered the secret of ToA, and it has NOTHING to do with Race Behavior 3! It can, in fact, be implemented using powerful custom races that you create using the in-game setup screens!

Join this Empire in it's quest for 25 Million Points, and I'll show you the way the the 3-Million point character!

The Twilight Pub is the bothyn of good-natured ToA stooshie. In other words, it is a place to fool around with different ideas, try various ToA tech trees, and completely disregard the competitive aspects of the metaverse. The empire is open, so anyone can come and go as they please. We're just here bumpin our gums and acting like blootered windae-lickers.

The former TwP logo shall remain:

Thanks to CL for the TwP logo!

The Scots' Planetary Improvement mod. Now that would make for some verrrry interesting structures, indeed!

If there weren't youngins around, I would offer some suggestions

Gotta keep things decent, though.

I saw Braveheart and another movie about Scots with Rob Lowe (Star Wars: Quin) does that count.

My family lineage dates back to 11 century England and some Swedish so I have no Scottish in me. I'm more like a knight in shinng amor and honor than chasing rainbows for that pot of gold and little green men that say " Don't eat my Lucky Charms".

Actually, that's Irish. There's a bit of a difference.

Lucky Charms,  is not the Scottish? Oh, but in Braveheart, he said "Its's my Island" and Scots do not have a Island.

Well, one does not have to be Scottish to enjoy the benefits of the TwP. So GmOOnii, I see that you play DA almost exclusively. I was wondering if you have tinkered with ToA yet, and what your impressions might be. I assume that you would be one of the few who plays the "Good" alignment, so you may have some insights that would elude we Neutral/Evil types.

I was going to say something else about that Kork game, but I have forgotten what it was now. No matter, I have started a new one, this time with an 8X manufacturing tile. Right off the bat, I went for producing one colony ship/turn. Took a little while, but I got there. We'll see how this one plays out. Should be interesting.

@Snark, Too bad we didn't join forces  because I add our scores together and we could of taken 8th place from The Geckodons and be in the top ten all at the same time.

Yes, I like ToA but my scores come from DA.  As far as "Good" alignment goes, I do it for honor and the respect of turning down +47% to reseach from that scientist.

You may not be seeing the alien scientist for a while. The tiny little claws "slipped" whilst adjusting the power feed to his Research Enhancer, and he got a tad too much juice. Looked like that Wylie Coyote, he did, as he was pushed leapt from the window of the prison research dormitory tower. Last we saw of him was a trail of smoke.......pause.........pause.......and a puff on the canyon floor. Now I wonder how that window got left open again? Careless, careless, careless.

The whole ugly business brings to mind the time we discovered an entire planet full of some winsome-looking cherub species. So impressed with them were we, that we sent our best team of Snathi diplomats to open up trade relations. Accidentally fired a spread of antimatter torpedoes into their sun and burned them to a crisp. Hehe...err...oops

GmOOnii, do you actually realize how utterly impossible it is to understand almost everything you say?

I'm not even going to try and decipher that reply. Complete gibberish to me.

@Snark - Good luck with the next game!

Quoting GmOOnii,
Did you see the movie "Braveheart"?

That's not what I mean. In your longer posts, and even sometimes in your short ones too, you fail to use at least a mild form of English grammer and sentence structure correctly. I understand you're young, but you should at least try and make your posts coherent enough for others to understand, especially when you change the color of every other word.

Quoting GmOOnii,

Yes, I like ToA but my scores come from DA.  As far as "Good" alignment goes,

If you would like to develop some scoring ability in ToA, feel free to ask us some questions about the game and it's unique features. You can certainly play as a Good Super Diplomat, and pull of some pretty good scores. I think Super Diplomat is the easiest strategy for learning ToA, and is also (to me at least) the most fun.

Speaking of guestions, I have one of my own. Perhaps someone with some advanced metaverse experience may me able to answer this:

I started my little 2-Year Korath game after I had already started the latest Kork game. I did not set the Korath to SD, but I did use the bonus points for Influence and Diplomacy. Will this effect the Korath in my Korx game, or does the savegame retain all of the initial race setup data?

That's a good question...best way to determine the answer is to act as if you are starting a new Korx game and when you get to the opponenet screen click the edit button for the Korath, go to the abilities tab, and see what it says....

OK, enough fun with the View Edits toy. Time to be serious now.  If you are new to the metaverse, and you have ambitions for competition in the other empires, don't go posting 20k games like I just did. There is an evil de'il called Score Depreciation which will scuttle your ability to rack up points. Each game scores less than the previous game, hence it is wise to post higher scores first, and lower scores later. I don't really care about my scores here, since I can always reset the characters later if I want to transfer them to a competitive environment. So, look for more wackiness from me, but don't emulate it if you join up with someone else.

I should correct myself and say don't PLAY for lower scores first. I do not think you can save games and post them in a particular order later.

The guy who kept saying that Ireland was HIS island, WAS Irish. He joined up with the Scots so he could kill some English.  But William Wallace (Mel Gibosn) and the other guys wearing dresses were all Scottish.

Savegames retain all relevant data; changing something in a new game with a game already in progress will not change anything within the game in progress.  (Although I think there may be one thing that you can change that'll cause it to crash, but it's been a while.)

Not true; all your games are worth the same percent as all the rest of them (this percent is determined by how many games you've submitted).  The optimal MV character has identical scores for every game.

That said, it's still good advice not to post scores significantly lower than your average.

Hullo everyone, I just scored my personal best, at 1,050,350 using my Dagda character that I placed in the Twilight Pub. This was my first major game I played using something other than unmodified Drath...and I've learned a few things. Just a short while ago I couldn't see how I could do any better than the Drath, so my interest in tinkering with all aspects of TA has already paid off....the bonus was that this game was more interesting and more fun because of fresh game aspects. I'll try to do a short write up on the Twilight Boards tomorrow for anyone interested. I was hoping to go over 1.1 million but I didn't get the econ event until the very end of the third year and, of course, I didn't build a starbase array. I want to thank Motti, Neilo, Deth & Dys all for giving different pieces of advice that came together for me in this game.

I am absolutely convinced that TA games can score over a million every game if the econ event happens before it becomes pointless. Best of all, these games are fun!

@ Clanlindsey, great job   getting over a million in 1 game, me on other hand, I just played 17 games that got me 1,570,100 points which is only 327,852 points    in MV to take 9th place but now I am 10th place. You are a great warrior and I am sorry.

Thanks Snark - give me a little while tomorrow, lol!

@Gm00nii - Thanks for the compliment! Don't feel like you lost your place though...the Twilight Pub isn't supposed to be a traditional empire, just a neutral happy place all empires can come and test TA theories and have fun. So in empire rankings the Twilight Pub doesn't count. I'm still a big evil ToE!
