SO I just picked up a copy of Galactic civilizations 2 weeks ago and I'm absolutely Addicted. The $20 was well spent! I've been doing a lot of reading through these forums and on the GalCiv2 Wiki site, however I've got a few questions for some of the more experienced players about how to actually play the game.

Question 1: Bonus tiles can be found on certain planets and so far I've seen that they offer either 100% or 300% bonus to their respective field. Either Research, ManufacturinG, Approval, Economy. or Influence. Perhaps Diplomacy as well although I can't remember if there are bonus tiles for that. The main question is whether these bonus tiles apply to building a (capital) on them? For instance a technology Capital built on a Standard planet tile where they produce 20tp of research offers 50% increase in research thereby increasing the amount to 30tp per turn. By this logic If a Technology Capital is built on a bonus tile of 100% research bonus it would actually give a 500% increase. Im probably wrong but im curious whether I should be building capitals on the bonus tiles under this assumption.

Question 2: Does population affect the amount of production on a planet? Example: I fill a planet with all factories and my weekly manufacturing capacity  is a potential 60 MP. 10 factiories x 6 mp each= 60 mp per turn. Now If the planet is only inhabited by 500 Million ppl as it is when I first colonize it but has a population capacity of 12 Billion, is the actual manufacturing produced by the factories the same as the percentage of total population actually on the planet? Im sort of starting to understand the game mechanics a bit but Im just trying to figuire all this out so im not wasting loads of money and resources to build up planets only to have them wasting productivity by being overbuilt. Im aware that I have to dedicate all my funding to manufacturing as well as have my industry sl;iders to 100% to achieve full capacity but under these conditions does population affect this at all?

Srry preemptively if all this has been discussed before, but thanks in advance for any responses. Happy gamin!

1 Capitals do not recieve the bonuses from bonus tiles since they Increase the planets production by the amount stated, thus producing no TP/MP on their own to multiply. Only buildings that produce the actual points gets the bonus tiles effects.

2 Your Population is just there for tax purposes/Troops mainly and have no relation to production.

Re Q 1: Do not put a capital on a bonus tile; you will waste the bonus because the capitals do not provide any direct production. Also, the rarest bonus tiles are +700%. You should see one eventually.

Re Q 2: Population has no direct relationship to production, but population is essential for generating the tax revenues you need to fund military, social, and research production. Production capacity is determined by the improvments (buildings) on a planet, not the people.

I'd give one exception here. Influence buildings give a %, yet they are affected by influence tiles.

The Political Capital bonuses to both influence and morale are enhanced by the respective bonus tiles. It's especially useful on the morale bonus tiles.

ALRIGHT!!!!

I always wondered about this one. There are no influence buildings thst give points, are there? Just influence buildings that give percentages, correct?

I believe you're correct about that, LedZerggelin.

(BTW, with the upgrade the quote button doesn't seem to work anymore).

Yea, I was just replying to the RP/MP Production aspects of it as that seemed to be the OPs main interest at the time. Sorry about any confusion .
