Informations about the races

Hi,

I've browsed the ToA forum and the manual, but I have not found the information I was looking for.

Basically:
- which races are evil/good/neutral?
- what is the specificity of each race's tech tree?

I'm asking this because:
a. it's kinda annoying to pick a race, select only neutral events, and then realize upon choosing your alignment that your race was evil or good and thus you will have to pay a hefty price to be neutral anyway
b. some tech trees seem more geared towards production, other towards technology, and I would like to know that in order to make an informed choice about the race I'll play. It will help me not pursue an economical strategy when the race is better suited for warfare or influence

Thanks!

Good: Altarians, Drath, Iconian, and Torians
Neutral: Arceans, Humans, Krynn, and Thalans
Evil: Drengin, Korath, Korx, and Yor

The Thalans in DA were great for production due to their hive special ability but in ToA they get off to a slower start since they can't start off buying factories.

The Yor get off to a good start since they have some great one per planet improvements, low maintenance factories, and several economic boosting techs. However, in a long game without tech trading or stealing they will fall behind economically since they can only place one 25% and one 10% boosting economic planetary improvement; where other races can place as many 25% boosting stock markets as they want.

The Aceans when played by the AI don't expand more due to their lack of engine techs. I'll have to play to see how a human player can overcomes this.

So far for long games I like the Humans best but I've not played all the races in ToA yet.

If you found this helpful don't forget to send me some good karmar.

Have you checked out DivineWrath's post TA 101

That'll hopefully help you understand the races in TA better.

Awesome link, Loupdinour. Exactly what I was looking for.

Thx also, Mascrinthus. The reason why I started this thread is because I encountered exactly what you describe for the Yor. I started a game with them, everything was going well, until I realized that there was no way to actually improve their economy beyond that 25%

On the plus side, most Yor colonies will tend to have relatively high populations, since Charging Stalks are so nice. It doesn't balance out, but it at least helps a bit. Yor are weird.
